My 15" FlatTV just stopped when I was watching it a few minutes ago. I unplugged it from the wall and then re-inserted the plug into the socket but to no avail. Even the green light will not come on. Any thoughts?

I have the same problem. Had my Phillips flat screen for 1 year 7 months. Was working fine then went to turn it on and it acted like it was trying then nothing and the little green light turned to red and flashes 4 times every few seconds. I saw we all get together and file a class action suit because it's obviously a manufacturing defect! If any one is interested please email me at [email protected]. I have found several websites with people having the same problem with the same exact model. Let's all team up!!!

I have the same problem with the TV not turning on and the red flashing light. Has anyone had success with this being fixed? If so what do I need to do to get it fixed?

  • Anonymous Nov 30, 2008

PHILLIPS IS UNDER INVESTIGATION FOR PUTTING FAULTY FUSES IN THEIR refurbished LCD TV'S, cant tell me they didnt do the same thing in new ones too.

THIS DEFINETLY NEEDS A CLASS ACTION SUIT!

Phillips builds to break right after your warranty if up.

Dont buy phillips products of any kind, then maybe they will stop.

My Flat TV started a few weeks ago. From red light it will go blue to start on and then it will just go back red. I was able to restart it by unplugging from the wall for few minutes. Now it just died. It only light up blue for few second and go none, not even red and the remote do not activate at all. TV is less than 4 years old. I paid over $2,000 for this 42". Would it be a fuse or like the transformator? Thanks you for advise.

Temporary solution to the troubled Phillips 50" Model 50PF9431D/37.
All,
I am really dissapoint w/ this vendor and wished that I went w/ my experience rather than the sales price. I bought that TV for almost two years and was happy until one day it shut down itself and the light indicator on left bottom corner flashed repeatedly in red 7 times and continued until I unplugged the power cord. I called Phillips co. and was told to send to local repair shop which I didnot bother because we all know how much it cost to fix electronics things nowadays.
The workaround is to have a fan blowing behind the TV and it will work sometimes for a whole day, the other time for 1/2 hour.
I am looking to buy another one but of Sony model. I have had old CRT Sony TV that still works for 25 years. That is the brand you all should go with.
Good luck.

I have come accross a lot of complaints regarding philips tv's, with premature failures the common ailment. I have filed a complaint at the following:

http://www.consumeraffairs.com/class_actions/

Click the "complaint button" and fill out the form. If enough complaints are filed, an attorney will review them.

My 42" Philips TV will start, then shut down. I need to hold the power button until it powers all the way on, even so, it will still shut down sometimes. Usually, after 2 or 3 times of this power on sequence, it will finally stay on. I noticed, when the power on fails, the picture is pixelated. Any guess to a solution.

Don't buy philips and tell everyone you know not to buy their products...my plasma went out a bit after 3 years...total **** and would love a class action lawsuit. Of course we would get a $20 coupon to purchase a new philips and the lawers would get 30 million

Error 4 indicates a communcation error between SSB and logic board. Which your problem is goning to be the BGA IC.
It will be cheaper to just get a new TV. But if u want to try and order one look online at parts.com.

I have a 37" that was given to me by my sister. I had a repair man come out ($50) and tell me that it would cost $380 to fix the issue because it was the power supply and the circuit board supply (whatever that is???). You can get a 32" Visio for under $400 brand new. Talk about Throw Away technology! I am staying away from Phillips in the future.

Panasonic TX-L42S10B has power but won't turn on

ok, this may be a silly question but when you turn it on and it starts flashing red, have you tried pressing the stand-by button on the remote. if a tv has been put on stand-by by the remote, and is then switched off by the set, when the set is turned back on it is still in stand-by mode and you need to press the stand-by button on the remote.
other than that I don't know.

Probable Lamp. If lamp hasn't bown the red Lamp Lite won't flash but other lamp issues cause stby timer light to continue flashing. If stby red lite is flashing, count the no. of times flashing - could open thermal fuse (6X flashing)

Stand by light flashes red on powering up with remote and the green light flashes approx 15 or times before the screen illuminates.

thats pretty normal, it takes a good second or two to warm up and the display to turn on(at least0, you get the green flashes as you hold for on, 1 sec is a long time at times, lol, be patient, no problem with your tv!
