Error code 643

I have been getting error code 643 and have tried windows update for days with no success. I read on microsoft website that I needed to remove all the .net framework from my computer, then download them again. I removed them but now I can't get them to download again. I have windows vista home premium. Did I mess my computer up? As you can see I am no computer genius. Please please help.

Try this for starters:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923100/

Basically, it involves un-installing .NET Framework Version 1.1 Service pack
1.

Then download and use (Run as Administrator) the Windows Installer CleanUp
Utility, and remove all references to .NET Framework Version 1.1 Service
pack 1 (only!).

Then reinstall .NET Framework Version 1.1 Service pack 1:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/detai…

Then run Windows Update again, to install KB929729.
