Says ink is empty, but I just changed cartridges

According to your problem it seems your cartridge has been damaged or choked so change your cartridge. Because some times when we use refilled cartridge, Ink goes dry and printer's sensor can not sense the ink.

This printer takes the HP 940 cartridge. I own a Cartridge World ink refilling store and we cannot refill these cartridges yet. There is a chip on the cartridge that estimates the ink levels and shuts off the cartridge when it thinks it is empty. Any refills you find are either violating patent law with replacement chips or they are telling you to take the chip off your old cartridge and put it on the new one. This second scenario is a rip off because once the chip says the cartridge is empty, no matter how much ink is left, it will refuse to print.

No. There is something wrong with the electronics on your cartridge. Most likely what happened was that there was ink clogged in your print head and when you continued to print there was no ink flowing through the nozzles to cool them so they overheated and fused. Causing the electrical error. You need to get a new cartridge refilled or not to solve the problem. I recommend Cartridge World refills because they make sure these problems don't happen to customers.

Your refilled cartridge didn't get the ink level chip reset. Your printer will refuse to print, scan, copy, etc.. until you replace the cartridge that's "empty." I would return the cartridge to the refiller you purchased it from and buy a refill from Cartridge World. These simple problems do not happen with Cartridge World refills.

Refills are not possible for this cartridge type yet. There is a chip on the cartridge that needs to be reset or replaced for the cartridge to function. Any chips for sale on the internet are technically violating patent law. Any refill kit that tells you to take the chip off your cartridge and place it on their refill is swindling you. The chip on the cartridge tells the printer how much ink is left in the cartridge. If the chip says the cartridge is empty, it won't print no matter how much ink is left. That said I think you got refills that didn't get the chips reset or compatibles (non-Epson brand cartridge body) with poorly made chips that expired before they should have. You need to have all the cartridges installed with functioning chips to use your printer. You need to buy new cartridges of the ones your printer thinks are empty. I recommend Cartridge World for refills because they make a quality product that doesn't have these kind of "novice" refiller problems. I would never buy refills or compatibles off the internet because you get what you pay for.

There is no way to reset the ink levels on this type of cartridge. Therefore, your printer will always think refills are empty. You can choose on the dialogue box to "ignore ink levels" and run the cartridge until it is empty. This is just one thing you will need to deal with on refills of this cartridge type.

It should work, i have never had any problems before with cartridge world. I would suggest taking it back and explain the situation.

yes, it's safe, and if you are dissatisfied with the cartridge, take it up with the cartridge re-filler...better yet, spend about $100 on a black & white laser printer (HP), and get 2000 pages per cartridge, and reduce cost per page by 20 times or more! And If you buy compatibles for this (which are more reliable) -save even more.
