Try 4 combinations:
* blank ID, and blank password,
* blank ID, and password of 'admin',
* ID of 'admin', and blank password,
* ID of 'admin', and password of 'admin'.

Failing all the above, do a "hardware-reset" on the router, and try the above 4 again -- one of the 4 will work.

How to Access Netgear Wireless Router Settings
Netgear wireless router settings must be changed using the router's web-based interface. Any computer on the network can be used to access it. From the Settings menu, options such as "Encryption," "Network setup details" and "Passwords" can be customized.

There are a few different variations of login credentials. Though these steps will use the details that work for the most common router models, the alternate login details that other models of Netgear wireless routers use will also be included.

Things You'll Need
Computer connected to the network
1 Open any web browser, such as Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox. In the address bar, enter "192.168.0.1" (without the quotes) and press the enter key. This will bring up the login prompt for most Netgear wireless routers. If that doesn't work, try "www.routerlogin.net", "192.168.0.5", or "10.1.10.1" until the login window appears.
2 Enter the username "admin" (again, without the quotes), and the password "password" in the appropriate fields, then click OK to login. If that password fails, try "1234," "Password" (with a capital "P"), or "admin" until you are greeted with the settings screen.
3 Make any required changes to the settings. Under security, it is possible to specify a new username and password for added security. Once you are done, close the window, and the system will automatically log you out.

Tips & Warnings
Always secure a wireless network to prevent outsiders from being able to change your network settings.

Forgot my password for wireless router 660hdt password for zyxel 660hd

There are two different things. One is the Login/ Password to log in to the router user interface for configuration. Second is the Network Key, which you have to provide to get access to the internet. If you have forgotton the Network Key and know the login/ password, you can log on to the router settings and reset the Network Key.
In case you have forgotten the login/ password of the router,
ALL YOU CAN DO IS TO RESET THE ROUTER TO FACTORY SETTINGS
You may reset router to factory setting from the reset button on the back side of the router. It may be a push button or else use a paper pin to press the button for few seconds, the lights on the front would blink and the router would restart with factory setting. Please not that ALL SETTING WOULD BE LOST...AND YOU WOULD HAVE TO MAKE CONFIGURATIONS AND SETTING ALL OVER AGAIN
. Configuration may be tricky sometimes and you have to secure the network/ router.

Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya!

How do i secure my network?

You login into the router using your browser and go to the wireless settings. If the network name (SSID) is the original like "default" or "dlknk" I would change that to a SSID network name you like. Then set-up a password/key to secure the network so any device must have the key to login.

It is telling me that the dlink is unsecured

This means that you have an open network. Your router has its default passwords and has not been changed at all. This will allow users/strangers to login to your router or connect to your network wirelessly.

To secure your router, just define a password for your route and for your wireless connection. Open a new browser, type on the address bar, 192.168.0.1. Username is admin and leave the password blank, then login. You will then enter to your router's control panel. Look for the Wireless settings and choose a setting to define a password for your wireless connection. Follow the instructions and click ok. After that process, your network will be secured.

Please let me know if you need further assistance. Thank you for using FixYa.

My router is not secured and when i tried to make it secured with password it didnt work, i tried with install CD and than i totally lost internet and gave me so many problems that i finally gave up after...

it is pretty simple, once you've done it a few times
log in to the router: 192.168.1.1 in the address line of internet explorer, the default username is left blank, and the default password is admin (if you changed the password, us it) once in the menu, click on Wireless The default SSID (Router name for your network) is LINKSYS, you can change it to what you want (BOB's router etc) , then security, and you'll have the option to enable security, and select the type, Use WPA and for the key I suggest an old phone number that you know by memory (All 10 digits including area code), then save the settings. Next time you try to connect to the network, it will prompt for the key, type in the one you entered, and yo are on-line, wireless and secure

Unsecure network

You will have to log into your router and configure WEP encryption.
To login to your router you can follow steps from documenation received with the router. It will be along the lines of open up internet explorer and in the address bar type in the IP address of the router. Most liekly 192.168.1.1 it will ask you to login should tell you credentials in router setup manual. Once in the configuration there should be a security tab were you can select the type of security to use select WEP v2 and type in a secure password. Once completed whoever wants to connect to your wireless will have to enter the WEP password. You should only have to enter it once. Then you will be as secure as you can be. If you wanted to get more secure you would change the admin password to log into the router also.
Let me know if you need further help.
