Here is a link to the manual. It states you need to replace the lamp because it has reached it end of life an over heating. https://docs.sony.com/release/VPLAW10.pdf
Press MENU on the remote (with the projector running of course).
In the window that comes up on screen, there are a series of icons on the left side of the screen, and the currently selected one will be highlighted (yellow if memory serves me correctly) scroll down through the icons to the very last one - the Information icon.
Press ENTER
The Lamp Timer (lamp hours) will now be showing on the screen, below technical info about the current signal feeding the projector. The 'Lamp Timer' information is at about the centre of the screen :o)
Turn the projector on and leave in standby mode. To do this press the power on button for 10 seconds until the projector comes on. To unlock the main panel keys, press the MENU button for 10 seconds.
May be you have couple of weeks time to replace lamp in projector and don't forget to reset lamp timer hours as procedure would be mentioned in user manual.
definately a lamp problem, for some reason the projector doesnt seem to accept or recognize the new lamp and switches to "safe mode". usually the projector turns off before the bulb explodes...
According to the manual, you need access to the RESET button, the left and right arrows and the ENTER button to clear the counter. Press the following in order for less than 5 seconds each:
the cover switch is probably not fully made.
Ensure that the cover tangs are pushing the pin
on the miniswitches.
Try putting slight pressure on the fan or lamp cover to see if the lamp/cover light
stops flashing.
you will need to do a restart on the PJ to check this out
