Why does my mwave oven often start itself when you shut the door even if you have not pushed start or have any time set on the timer. When this happens it does not tick seconds off on the timer.

I had one that started randomly when there was a power failure.
Never found out why. But when it did only the convection part came on. The mwave did not. U might experiment with some water in there to see if it heats up when this happens. If the mwave does come on then u should get it fixed or junk it. With the cost analysis, junk it is probably good.

It could be a loose connection that shakes when the door is closed. It could be a defect in the electronics.

Oven turns itself on

THE DOOR HAS A SAFETY SWITCH THAT SHUTS THE UNIT OFF WHEN THE DOOR IS OPENED KEEPING YOU FROM GETTING "ZAPPED WITH RADIATION" ACTUALLY ITS JUST RADIO WAVES, ANYWAY THE JIGGLING OF THE HANDLE TO START IT IS WHATS HAPPENING THERE. IT COMING ON IS JUST A SHORT IN THE SWITCH THAT MAY BE FROM AN ALREADY SET TIME, OR ITS JUST MAKING CONTACT WHERE ITS NOT SUPPOSED TO. ANYWAY YOU NEED A NEW DOOR SWITCH.

Panasonic microwave door is misaligned? does not close without slaming it, then sometimes the light still stays on and msg displays that the door needs to be closed. other times, the light goes out but...

Microwave making noise all the time if plugged in & door shut

Sounds like a bad control board. Change it or buy another unit.

Khhc2090s trouble

The sensor errors are probably just from opening the door and interrupting the sensor cook cycle.

By the way, you should always press "Stop" before opening the door of a running microwave. Otherwise, the door switches will prematurely fail.

I would first check the door switches and their mounts. See this help file.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

Burns my popcorn constantly. is there a different setting i can put it on?

HELLO.

Solution to your microwave problem is given as below.

* 1 Set your Daewoo microwave on a countertop near an electrical outlet and plug it in. Open the door and place the circular roller guide in the center of the oven cavity, then place the glass cooking tray over it.

* 2 Set your food on a microwave-safe dish and then put the dish on the cooking tray and close the door. Make sure that it latches properly.

* 3 Turn the upper knob to select a power level. Power levels include "Defrost," "Med-High," or "High." If your Daewoo has a touch pad, touch the "Microwave" button once to set the highest power level. Touch it consecutive times to lower the power level.

* 4 Turn the lower knob to set the cooking time. For cooking times less than two minutes, turn the knob up past the two-minute mark, then back to the correct time. For touch pad models, enter in the cooking time with the numerical keys and then press "Start."

* 5 Open the door at any time to stop the cooking and check the temperature of your food. Shut the door to automatically continue cooking, or turn the timer knob to the right to add more time. For touch pads, press the "Stop/Clear" button, then key in a new cooking time and press "Start."

* 6 Open the door when the timer reaches the "Off" position and take out your food.

Thanks.

Microwave Oven Does Not Start Cooking

This is usually caused by either a bad door switch or a loose door switch mount, which are pretty simple problems to fix.

Even though a door switch clicks, it may still be bad inside.

Door switch or mount trouble is usually caused by slamming the door or by opening the door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.

There are plastic mounts inside the microwave which hold the door switches and onto which the door latches lock when you close the door.

The screws on these mounts may be loose. If they get too loose, the switches will not be activated properly.

Sometimes it's a broken tab on the switch holder, allowing the switch to rotate just out of position. This tab can be hard to see, since it is under the bottom edge of the switch.

One test that sometimes helps is to gently lift up (and/or push down) on the door or handle as you try to start it. If it works or tries to work, then it's a door switch mount or door alignment issue.

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical information on safety, disassembly and door switches at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa:.

That sounds like what's happening when you hold the Start pad - maybe you're moving the frame and chassis enough to help it work.
