Maytag MMV4205AA - Just went dead

I have had this Microwave oven for 1 and half years. All of sudden it just went dead. The electrical outlet is fine. I opened the vent grille and checked the control unit. All connections seem fine. Are there fuses that I need to check? If so where? Do I need to take down the unit?

Thanks in advance for all your help.

I've had the same model for 2 1/2 years and have the same problem as Doug316004. I unplugged and checked the electrical outlet but it works. I have no idea what else to do. Was checking online for the manual but cannot find.

My microwave just died mid April. I have plugged it into another outlet to see if there is outlet problems. I have had the power company check for surges. I have had an electrician tighten all the breakers in the breaker box.

Do you know of a reset button? and where to find it?

    Thanks

Stopped heating.after28 months I took the cover off and tested all these with my digital multimeter capacitor, thermosthats, transformers. magnetron Ohmed probably every wire i could get to . Repare magnetron cost over 100 bucks.

We have been maytag family for years and have reaped the fruits of its good name way past the warranty. i don't know why they have a warranty program. You will always notice the may tag man is stand beside a washer and dryer not a microwave oven. we will continue to buy maytag appliandes as long as it dryes or washes clothes. Had one set last 21 years and only had to change a hose clamp. I have learned a very valuable lesson. Before buying any appliance/ GO TO THE BLOG AND CHECK IT OUT. Blogs can be powerful also hateful .Have ya ever wondered why there is only a year warranty. This shows me that manufacturers have no TRUST in their product. IF A MACHINE IS A GOOD AS ITS NAME THERE SHOULD BE AT LEAST A 10 YEAR W A R R A N T Y. I thought that america was a land where things were built to last. Oh! I forgot they make them overseas Gary <><

Ours went dead today. After being in service for less than 6 months. IS THERE A RECALL OUR FOR THIS MODEL?

  • marnold579 Aug 12, 2008

My microwave oven is around 3 years old. It appears to be completely dead. I checked the electrical socket, the breaker, etc. and they are fine. I see there is a fuse. Do you think this is the problem? A repair checked it for us and said it was the thermostat. I ordered a thermostat and changed. It still does not work.

    Thanks.

    Thanks Maytag!

This is Doug316004, I took my microwave to a Maytag authorized service repair shop. It was the digital board and was covered under 3 or 5 year warranty. All I had to pay for was labor which was 60 bucks. Hope this helps

I changed the thermal fuse. Microwave still does not work. Must be something more significant.

How do I access fuse in maytag model mmv4205AA

If the oven is dead - no display, no beeps when you press a pad on the keypad, and no inside light when you open the door - then I would suggest that you very the outlet is okay under load.

A hair dryer or toaster are the best ways the average DIYer can test the outlet under load.

If that's good, then your microwave may be dead due to a blown fuse, magnetron thermostat, or oven cavity thermostat.

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

If the fuse and magnetron thermostat are good, then you will have to take the oven down from the wall to get to and test the oven thermostat.

Sounds like a blown fuse. Carefully remove the cover, and the fuse in directly behind the power cord on the top. Radioshack sells 15A ceramic replacements.
