It may be owe to software problem 1, the virus "shock" virus attack will prompt system will automatically start in few seconds. From the remote control you Trojan program all the activities of the computer, including let your computer restarts. Remove viruses, trojans, or reshipment system. 2, the system files damage system files destroyed, as the KERNEL32. Win2K DLL Win98 features, the font list below such basic execution system files destroyed at startup, system will therefore cannot finish initializing and forced the restart. Solution: cover installation or reinstall it. Hardware problem: 1.Chassis power is not enough, dc output is pure, the dynamic response sluggish. Users often ignored or assembling businessman, using cheap price of power supply, so is the largest system of automatic restart suspicion. (1) the power output power shortage, when run large 3D gaming occupy CPU resource of software, the CPU needs power supply, power is not caused by overload protection, stop the power output. After the output power to stop, load, reduce power restart. Due to the protection of the recovery/time is short, so we are hosting automatic restart. (2) power dc output is pure, pure dc power supply of digital circuit requirements, when the power output of too direct, the harmonic content will result in digital circuits, performance is often work to crash or restart. (3) working load of the CPU is dynamic, on the current requirement is dynamic, and the dynamic response speed quickly. Request Some of the poor quality power dynamic response for a long time, could also lead to crash or frequent restart. (4) high-end graphics update equipment (large disk/video card/equipment (increased), after the hard disk) / burners, power supply of original beyond rated output power will cause the regular crash or restart. Solution: now in high quality high-power computer power. 2.The memory chip thermal stability, incorrect or damage to restart the system memory problems to restart the system of risk. (1) the poor thermal stability of memory, boot can work normally, when the memory to a certain temperature, temperature is can not work normally, which leads to crash or restart. (2) memory chips, slightly damaged, also can pass on self into the system, when the operation can be some big software throughput will restart or crash. Solution: replace memory. (3) memory of CAS value too small can also lead to instability caused by system memory, automatic restart. General had better use the default Settings, don't roll change yourself. 4.The CPU temperature exorbitant or the cache damage (1) the CPU temperature exorbitant often causes protective automatic restart. The basic reason of high temperature is due to poor cooling chassis, CPU, the CPU is undesirable reasons: the heat radiator thermal conductivity low, radiator material with a foreign body between CPU interface (1) for quality assurance, fan speed is low, the fan and radiator dust too much, etc. And P2, P3 motherboard CPU temperature probe damaged under the mp4 or within the CPU temperature detection circuit on the mainboard damage, the BIOS BUG in a special conditions of temperature, the CPU CMOS setup to protect low temperature, etc. Can also cause protective restart. (2) of an internal CPU, level 2 cache damage is CPU common fault. The extent of damage, or can start, when running into the system, the software (some throughput big media player, games, 3D graphic) will restart or crash. Solution: in the CMOS setup of shield (L2) or level 2 cache cache (L1), 1 or replace the CPU. 4.AGP display, PCI CARDS (nics), cat restart automatically (1) the external card or poor quality work not standard, AGP/PCI bus signal misoperation cause system RESET to restart. (2) and graphics, loose network system may cause restart. 5.Parallel, USB access is serial, fault or the incompatibility of external devices restart automatically (1) the fault or not compatible with the parallel damage, such as printer, a foot of short-circuit, USB equipment damage of short circuit, signal level sutural definition, opaque, etc. (2) hot swaps external devices, shaking, cause signals or power instant short-circuit. 6.Mainboard failure In case of automatic restart motherboard is rare. Generally RESET circuit are associated with a fault, Socket weld is empty, slots, contact undesirable, Individual chip, capacitance elements such as damage.

Stuck sleep mode

The solution to no post on a computer is to remove everything that you can, take out the hdd, the ram, and optical disk and see if it boots. If it does, put the RAM back, then try again, if it does, put the hdd back and try again. It is a process of elimination. If everything is removed and it wont boot, it may be the motherboard. I have also seen bad batteries do this. There is a chip inside the battery that wont let the machine boot when the life of the battery is expired.

Macbook a1181 works for a couple days and then does not want to start again for another couple days. please advise

Your best bet is to reset the System Management Controller;
(I'm not sure if your model has a removable battery or not, so I'm providing both methods)

Resetting the SMC on Mac portables with a battery you can remove
Note: Learn about removing the battery on MacBook and MacBook Pro.

  1. Shut down the computer.
  2. Disconnect the MagSafe power adapter from the computer, if it's connected.
  3. Remove the battery.
  4. Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
  5. Release the power button.
  6. Reconnect the battery and MagSafe power adapter.
  7. Press the power button to turn on the computer.

Resetting the SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own
Note: Portable computers that have a battery you should not remove on your own include MacBook Pro (Early 2009) and later, all models of MacBook Air, and MacBook (Late 2009).

  1. Shut down the computer.
  2. Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
  3. On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
  4. Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
  5. Press the power button to turn on the computer.
    Note
: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.

...and then reset the Parameter RAM:

  1. Shut down the computer.
  2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
  3. Turn on the computer.
  4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
  5. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
  6. Release the keys.

About my ram of p4m800-m7 rev 3.1 i have a 512mb ram already installed and i buy a new ram with a 1gb size and i would like to install it but my question is is it okay to put them together? my 512mb ram is...

The black rectangular chips on the side, or sides, of the ram module are DRAM chips. Dynamic Random Access Memory.

('Chip' is slang term to denote IC, or Integrated Circuit)

Each Dram chip is of a specific size, (or can be said as Amount)
There are manufacturers who make the Dram chips, and then the chips are used by the ram memory manufacturer.

Doesn't matter how the Dram chips are arranged. The ram memory manufacturer could put them all of one side, if they designed it that way.

1.Your motherboard will support, (Use), DDR at 333Mhz, or DDR at 400MegaHertz.
(PC2700 and PC3200, respectively)

2.The ram memory module must use 2.5 Volts.
(JEDEC has set the voltage standard for DDR Sdram at 2.5 Volts, so no worries here. Only time to check this, is if you have some High performance ram, that may be set to use a higher voltage)

3.It must be Non-ECC ram, and Unbuffered.

4.Cas Latency should be 2.5 to 3.0 (Ram Timings)

Short solution?

Computer off, and unplugged from power. TOUCH the metal frame of the computer case to relieve your body of Static.

Handle the ram 'sticks' by the body of the stick, and refrain from touching the gold plated contact pins, on the bottom.

If the 512MB stick is in SLOT 1, remove it. Install the 1GB stick in Slot 1. Make SURE it is seated!

(Slot 1, is the ram memory slot that is closest to the Processor. It is the first ram memory slot that the Processor reads)

Leave the computer case open. (Refrain from putting your hands in while the computer is plugged into power)

Plug the computer into power. Wait 30 seconds. Turn the computer on.

Computer boots up? (Starts)
Okay.
Unplug from power. Install the 512MB stick in Slot 2.
Plug into power, wait 30 seconds. Turn the computer on.
Computer boots up?
You're good to go.

1GB ram memory stick is in Slot 1, and the computer does not boot up?
Incompatible ram memory. Remove it. Reinstall the original 512MB stick in Slot 1.

Trying to upgrade RAM on GA-945gzm-s2 mobo. Already have 1gb 5300 ddr2 stick of RAM. Works fine until I place the 2nd stick of RAM in. I turn it on and get no post beeps, no video, but everything is...

The new RAM module could be faulty or the second memory slot is faulty.
Try removing the original 1Gb memory module and inserting the new memory module in its place to see if the computer boots up normally. If it doesn't then then new memory module is faulty.

Computer turns off after 4 seconds

1) Check to make sure your power on button is
not sticking.
2) Try disconnecting tv, monitors, and anything
external to see if it's not an external problem.
3) Make sure your ram sticks are seated
securely.

If computer continues to shut down after only a few seconds it could be a cpu or motherboard issue.

Make sure cpu is not overheating, and the fan on the cpu is plugged in and working.

good luck!

Laptop will not switch on

Shut down the system, disconnect every thing you can possibly disconnect and remove the battery.

Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds. Reconnect A/C power and try to boot up.

If no change, remove the CD/DVD drive and if you feel comfortable, the hard drive. Reconnect power and try to turn on again.

If you still get nothing, check for any loose screws on the bottom of the case and snug them (DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN). Just finger tight so the screw is not turning loosely. Remove and reseat the RAM. If you get no power, remove the RAM and reconnect power to see if you get beeps from the system.

Let me know if you need to go further than this.
