It depends on how many motor wires you have available to work with .. IF the name plate says 220 volts , not 120 / 220 volts , then no. If there are only 2 wires for the motor, then NO

Just replaced a Hayward 2hp pool motor with a OA Smith 2hp pool motor and when i turned it on it starts to switch between high and low and it shuts off. the motor makes a tic tic sound. What do you think...

Hello
No there is no switch in the motor.Correct voltage is done by hooking up incoming power to a combination of internal wires or contacts.

There should be a wiring diagram on the cover where the hookup is.Or on the outside case of the motor.
The high and low speed doesnt make sence to me.Check the rpm of the motor it should be one rpm continueous.
Unless this is a Hvac motor and not a pool pump motor.Possible you may have been sold the wrong motor.
Usually a pool pump is 115 volts 1 speed and 1 rpm continuos duty.Unless you specify 230 volts.

Change wiring from 230v to 115v

There should be a wiring diagram on the name plate of the motor, or inside the wiring compartment or on that cover . Would be something with dots and HI , LO, and wire numbers.. or just a notation of 120 , 220 volts.
How is it wired now?

Well it is not an AO Smith, but I have an older Eneregair compressor with an Energair America motor 2 HP, 230v 12 amp. It says on the compressor that it is a 115/230, so I am wondering if it is possible...

Thank you for posting your question here on Fixya.com.

A 2 HP motor is usually only going to connect to 230V 1~ because of the high amp draw if ran on 115V. The motor itself should say 115/230 V and then would also read 24/12 Amp. It seems based upon your post it is not a dual voltage motor, likely for the reason I stated. You can not reconnect the motor from series to parallel because the winding connections to the leads are not brought out for you to do so. Otherwise it would be labeled for 115/230. You can of course try to get a 2 HP 115 volt rated motor or try to reconnect a circuit where you wish to use the compressor to bring the 230 V to it. In the long run, you would be better off running the motor on 230V.

What change at the motor wire connection plate do I have to make to wire the pump for 110 vs. the default of 220 volts?

All motors are different depending on what plant they came from, when they were made and so on. The wire plate will have letters or numbers on it and the wires will be color coded and you will have a wireing diagrahm on the side of the motor. If it has been painted over a little acitone or nailpolish remover will clean it. Sorry I can't be more help.

My motor is wired for 230v and I need it to be 115v

It should be. Look closely at the motor nameplate and you should see a small diagram telling how to connect the motor for 115v or 230v. Most newer pumps have a small selector of some sorts. Either a plug that pulls off a couple post the include an idicator arrow for where to set the plug for either voltage, or a dial you turn to show it. Either way, you should be able to set the motor for 115 rather easily.

Got a waterway 1.5 hp 1 speed 115/230v, wired 115 need 230

Hi,
Is there a coverplate where the wires come out of the pump? If so, remove the plate and there should be a wiring diagram inside.
Good Luck

Rewiring mootor from 230v down to 115v

Diagram for aosmith motor b381 is here: http://www.electricmotorwarehouse.com/IMAGES/B381_connection.htm

However, I believe that this motor will be more efficient at 230v depending on load conditions. At 115v this motor will draw more amps and tend to run hot, but situation rules. Enjoy
