I have a Bionaire BT40RC Tower Fan that is making a noise

I have a Bionaire BT40RC Tower Fan that is making a A"screeching" sound when it operates. It probably just needs a little grease to eliminate the plastic parts from rubbing. I've tried to disassemble the fan, but I can't see how to remove the top cap to get to the rotating fan. How can I remove the top cap?

SOURCE: Motor problem

hi,

I wrote to a person earlier about oiling one, now Im thinking she may be having the same problem you have, I will paste that info at the bottom, but sounds like your fan blade assembly has come loose and/or worked its way back down to the motor, study the fan blade assembly and look for an allen bolt or ring holding the assembly to the shaft, remove the ring or loosen the allen bolt , adjust the fan blade assembly so it doesent bind, oil the motor with regular 10w40 motor oil and dust the fan, these are good little fans and that company has been making those since the40's, also sending user guide link.

SOURCE: tower fan 07586 parts (screws)

The M5 indicate it is a metric size and the 12 is the length. I had the same problem when I unpacked my fan and was able to buy two M5-16 screws from my local hardware stoe for 45 cents a piece. In case your asked, they have an 80 pitch.

Bionaire bt16 towerr fan not working. Only slight beep noise when turned on. Two years old.

Possible that the capacitor is weak and so does not power the coils to turn rotor. you will need to check the free movement of the blades, is no use some oil to free the rotor blades, if the blades are free then check the continuity of the coils specially if they are heating up , if so check the capacitor.

My Bionaire Tower fan is Switching the sitting by itself from 1 speed to 2 speed. is it a defect?

I don't think it is a defect, but you may want ot check with the store.

I have a similar one that starts at a higher speed and switches down to low after a few seconds.
After that I can select the running speed.

Makes screeching noise

i do apologize for the inconvenience that your having with the noise. usually the screeching noise means something is rubbing up against something inside, or a part that helps the unit run needs to be cleaned or greased. to do the internal the best thing that i can suggest is to take it to a hardware store and see if they can clean it there for you.

Makes a loud noise when it is turned on. Can't open it.

If it is making a loud humming sound it is probably getting weak and will have to be replaced. Is it doing it in all speeds? Motor replacement would probably not be worthwhile unless it is a very expensive unit. I'd opt to replace the unit.
