Try to unplug the router and hold in reset button for 30 seconds see if that works, you probably did that already, But if you can get your computer to respond you should be able to open software Bios. and do your firmware update from there. If not I believe a hard reset is with the router plugged in and holding reset button for 30 seconds, I don't know I sure hope that resets it for you. Thanks take care

Hello, 192.168.0.1 is usually the default address. If the router is connect to the PC or Laptop with a straight through ethernet cable, browser should connect. The only reason is the default has been changed. The easiest thing would be to set the router back to default. Push reset on back of router for 5-10 seconds. Then try to access with default address. Username is "admin" leave password blank. Hope this helps.

You don't need any software, no. All you need to do is login to the router (usually 192.168.2.1 or 192.168.1.1 for D-link) and configure the wireless security (including the key)).
