i think you might have to get in touch with whom you got it from.

A conflict or incompatibility is possible. You may need to upgrade the firmware of either the satellite receiver and/or the TV.

Thank you for your help I visited a Sony retail outlet yesterday and they explained that to obtain sound you have to go through a sound system using the red connection because they is no sound / speakers build into the projector.

i returned the freesat to the shop going to buy tv with freesat built in

I believe that the Humax can only output 1 channel and because it has no built in hdd and twin channel capabilty that is all you can record 1 channel (unlike sky +/sky HD) so that means also that unless you watch a different source (like the picture from your aerial (terrestial channels)) you are stuck with having to watch the channel you record

Isolate problem by using video and data(PC),if none of the imputs work call the vendor or Sony and sent it back for repair.
