I have a dell all in one printer 962. It suddenly started giving me a catridge error....error 1203--consult user guide. The user guide tells me nothing. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the printer. Unplugged every cable and plug connected. I have also tried the two solutions you offer, tape on contacts and wipe contacts with damp kleenex. Nothing has worked. HELP!

Dell All-in-One Printer Cartridge Error 1203.
There is a short in the cartridge you have. You need to cover a copper contact on the color cartridge the error clears and the cartridge works. Looking from the contact side for the color cartridge 2nd row contact 2 from the left. Use a SMALL square piece of Scotch tape to cover that contact. If you need more help let me know thanks

Dell 962 all-in-one printer - shows catridge error 1203

This is a problem quite common to dell printers. The printer thinks that the cartridge has been overfilled. It is always recommended to send this printer back to where you bought it from, that's if it's still on warranty. If not, then you should try the dirty way of fixing it. Get a scotch tape and cut it enough to cover the copper contact on the color cartridge.

Hope it helps.

Cartridge error

Error 1203 is a very interesting error which normally means that your catridges overflow even from brand new catridges after a several prints or right after you refilled the catridges.

Check to see if ink are smeared on the holder where the contact panel with the catridge.

Solution:
I use the klennex with a few drops of water to dampen and clean off those contact on the holder and my printer work again.
The refill ink work very well if you let it sit 24 hrs. Then before you print anything, you should run aligned the catridges a couple times then run clean catridges a couple times.
Print the test page to see how it's look and way you go.
Be sure not to leave any debris of klennex on those holder contact panel.

To reset the error code, disconnect the power cord from the wall. Also remove the power brick from the back of the printer for 60 seconds. Then connect everything again.

Please let me if this information helped.

Please rate me if you are haapy with the solution.

Help

Error 1203 is a short circuit. Turn the printer off and then on; check the cartridges make sure they are seeded properly. Try plugging it into a different power supply. Alot of people are having the same problem. If your printer is less than a year old it should be under warranty. Call Dell if it is still under warranty, they should replace it.

What operating system are you using: ex. Vista, XP etc. Get back to me.
