Toshiba 22lv505 TV/DVD Region Code Error

I have a toshiba 22lv50 dvd lcd tv. All of a sudden I'm getting a dvd region code error on dvds that previously ran fine. These dvds work fine on other players. Not all dvds come up with this error. Toshiba suggests to clean disc and power down tv and unplug for 30 mins and try again. No change.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

It's been almost 1 year since I posted this problem and unfortunately no one has been able to solve it until NOW.

I did another google recently and to my surprise the following popped up from ToshibaCanada support. The support group specified the affected tv/dvd sets that have been coming up with these notorious dvd region code errors and provided the following recommedations to correct the error.

    IT REALY WORKS!!!!!

    Thanks to ToshibaCanada Support.

    Good Luck,

    John

When attempting to play a Region 1 DVD the message "Region Code Error" is displayed on the TV's DVD splash screen.

Procedure: Use the following procedure to reinitialize the DVD Data:

    1. Power on TV.

    2. Select DVD mode. (confirm no disc is loaded in the DVD drive).

    3. Press and hold the "volume down" button to place the volume level to minimum (0). Release the "volume down" button.

    4. Press "volume down" button on the TV set and the number "4" on the remote control at the same time. Continue to hold the buttons until the TV briefly displays the "Initialize 5" then the "Complete" message on the screen. This message displayed on the screen is very brief in duration.

    5. Unplug the TV from its power outlet, wait 30 seconds, plug back in.

    6. Insert Region 1 DVD and verify good play of disc.

    7. This completes the DVD initialization procedure.

Can only play DVDs for one region code.

Most DVDs can only play DVDs from a single region. However, they sometimes allow you to change the region at least one time. Another option is to make your DVD player region free. This is a hack that can be performed. Once you do this, you can play DVDs from any region.
