Unfortunately TV's aren't built to last anymore...once LED sets came out the life of them dropped in half over what they were 10 yrs ago.. 2.5 yrs isn't that far below average anymore. .There is a good chance you have Tcon board issues, you can try the old trick of cooking it in your oven and see if that helps since it started out as intermittent or would work for awhile and got worse but only about 20% at best of the time that works, you can find instructions on how to do it on youtube if you want to try, it won't hurt anything but chances are it won't fix it...next step is buy a tcon board but there are other things that could cause it , tcon would be where I would start

SOURCE: I have multi-colored vertical line on my Toshiba

unfortunately this is the display and it will cost as much or more than you paid for the set to have it fixed. You might can call Toshiba and see if they will help you with it. Is it less than a year old, if so it is still in warranty and they will have to fix it.

7inch vertical color lines right side of screen all th time

Hi.

This website has the service manual ($7.79) with instructions to diagnose the boards. Unfortunately I am afraid that the problem is not a board but the panel itself.

Thin vertical lines in the middle of the picture mean that the panel is gone. Here an example of lines from bad panel in Toshiba LCD:Line Picture. (discussion: Avsforum). Sometimes the lines can be dark or in bright color.

The panel costs $339 (LCD PANEL ASSY).

Because of the price of the panel, the TV is not worth repairing unless under warranty.

Even if the TV is out of warranty call Toshiba and report the problem. As you can see in AVSforum page above the problem is affecting many users.

If Toshiba doesn't offer special conditions on repair (or discount on new), the TV is not worth repairing. Replacement of the digital board will hardly be a solution.

Only if you have wide bands, scrambled or flickering, then the problem is digital board (main board) or panel. If you have the thin pixel lines, then the panel is gone.

The screen has colored vertical lines and becomes to a dark black band about 6 inches of width. The tv is exactly two years old by today.

My 3-year old 52-inch Toshiba flat panel TV (Model # 52RV53U, Serial # AM409000295) developed a display problem (purchased Aug. 2008, manufactured July 2008). Vertical multicolored lines appeared on the screen just left of center. The band of thin vertical bars is 5.5 inches wide. The lines are about 1/16-inch wide. They are stationary, always exactly in same place. They over-ride any other picture on the screen (no transparency). They are there all time even with no video inputs to the TV after the unit is turned on. See picture #1. The TV works well in every other respect, but, obviously, it is annoying to watch the picture with the color band blocking about 1/6 of the picture.

I already swapped out the TCON board with no improvement and replugged the TCON board cables with no improvement.

Most likely it is the flat panel tab bond failure (panel made by Samsung). Further solution updates will be on my Facebook page.

My toshiba 40rf350u is showing colored vertical lines on the left side of the screen 2 inches off the edge and 13 inches wide they seem to appear in morning and go away after 5-10 minutes. please help

I have fixed the issue on my Toshiba 40" Flat panel. There are several ribbon cables that run across the top of the FPD module. It took a short while to disassemble the entire assembly. The fix I employed was to secure the ribbon cable using black electrical tape. Unfortunately the reassemble revealed an isse where the frame for the FPD module reintroduced the issue. I merely wedged the frame and the assembly and that resolved the issue entirely. I neglected to totally resolder the connections so not to damage any of the other ribbon cables for the display. Note these ribbon cables get very hot to the touch.

I have video's and pictures on request.
