GE Spacemaker Microwave JVM1441 BH04 tripping circuit breaker

My GE Spacemaker Microwave JVM1441BH04 is tripping the circuit breaker. No unusual sounds, no warning signs, it just stops working when running. It was manufactured in April 2006

For example I was cooking oatmeal for 3 minutes on full power. The machine completely shut down, and when I checked the circuit breaker it had shut off the circuit and was warm to the touch.

Any ideas?

Your power transformer for the magnetron could have a shorted primary power winding, the door safety interlock switch could be mis-adjusted,this normally blows the internal unit fuse,a shorted high voltage capacitor,or diode,a bare wire inside the unit, more than the microwave on that circuit or a weak circuit breaker in the house power panel

Breaker trips when using microwave. Electrician can't find electrical problem. Could it be the microwave itself?

Answered earlier, another tips is to disconnect the power to the board and see if the circuit breaker holds, if not check the main line circuit.

I was just using the microwave and it died on me. No power to the unit that I can tell.

Check the circuit breaker. If it's pugged into GFCI type outlet or an outlet that's run from one, make sure the breaker didn't trip there.

G.E. Spacemaker trips the breaker on the circuit it is pluged into if you open the door when it is running.

Check the door switches and the wires connected to them. I've seen at least one door switch that had bad contacts literally fall apart due to overheating. It's possible you have one that is broken and twists over to touch a grounded metal part when you open the door (also inspect the bracket that holds the switch for the same issue). The same switch doesn't trip the breaker when the oven is not running because there is no power going through it at that case.

Ge spacemaker microwave, new, keeps tripping the GFI but keeps running

The first thing you need to check is the GFI--when it trips, it definitely should shut off power to the circuit. It may be wired incorrectly, or is faulty. There should be a 20 amp breaker and wiring to the oven.It is also much better is the oven is the only appliance on this circuit. Hope this helps!

Microwave won't turn on. Seems like it is not getting power. I checked breaker. I am looking for a fuse. You know where one is? It is a GE Spacemaker(2 yrs old) model # JVM1440WH04

  • Make sure that the microwave is plugged into a grounded outlet. It must be a 3-prong outlet.
  • Make sure the clock is set.
  • Check to see if a programming sequence was entered. Sometimes improper programming or a program sequence such as delay start can cause the touch panel to be non-responsive. Unplug microwave or turn off house circuit breaker for 30 seconds. Plug back in, or reset circuit breaker, and try reprogramming unit.
  • Check the house circuit breaker or fuse box. If the microwave is DEAD and there is no display and nothing works- the problem could be a blown fuse or tripped breaker.
