My magic chef clothes dryer won't fire up. The ignitor glows about every 30 seconds but no ignition. I checked the gas supply ,made sure it was ON. HELP ME PLEASE!!!

If the ignition is working but wont lite the gas presure valve is detecting a fault and refusing to lite you will need to have it checked by a cert plumber.. sorry

even though the ignitor glows it doesn't mean it's good it opens the gas valve by amps not just because it glows,if you turn on the stove and when you see it glow if the flame doesn't ignite within 40 to 50 seconds you have a bad ignitor.if you leave it alone for a few minutes does the flame ignite?the only other thing it could be is a bad gas valve but most likely it will be the ignitor
The problem with your oven is that ignitor is weak and not drawing enough amprage to open the gas valve, the gas you smell was since the ignitor does come on it allowed the gas valve to open a wee bit but since ignitor is weak it wont allow gas valve to open fully. I know you going to doubt that what i'm telling you is correct, i base my diagnosis on my 30 years experience as a appliance repair technician.Replace ignitor and enjoy your baked meal
First off, decide which you have, a pilot lite or an igniter coil. In electronic controlled units, when the oven won't light, as long as there's gas available, 98% of the time the igniter is bad, even though the old one may glow and seem to be very bright, it could have a small hairline crack in the ceramic, which would not allow the proper amount of electrical current to travel to the gas oven safety valve, which would then make it open and release the gas. A new igniter works almost every time.

Hi,
If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating
the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows
sometimes it is still not working properly.
if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....
If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different
things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.
If the glow bar is glowing and the oven doesn't come on in about 30 - 45 seconds.... it probably is the glow bar that needs to be replaced. BUT it could be the oven valve. Usually it is the glow bar.
The glow bar is wired in series with the oven valve and even if it is glowing it may not be sending the correct voltage through to the oven valve.
To change the glowbar... unplug the appliance, unscrew 2 screws holding the metal bracket to the burner and remove the ignitor. You can cut the 2 white wires going to the ignitor and use ceramic wire nuts with the new ignitor.

If the bake ignitor comes on - check the amperage on the bake ignitor wires when it's on. If the ignitor is a round style - amperage should be 2.5-3A, if the ignitor is rectangular - 3 - 3.6A. If less than 2.5A or 3A respectively - replace ignitor. Ignitor part numbers for round style ones: 4342528, WB2X9154, SGR403, 5304401265; rectangular styles: 12400035, WB13K21, WB2X9998, SGR412, NR020, 5303935066, 814269, 9753108. Ignitors of the same shape (i.e. rectangular) are interchangeable, if you can splice the wires.
that could be rigth only if that ignitor is good,,,that ignitor has to glow bright orange,,if its weak,,which it sounds like to me,,the gas will take a long time to ignitor,,or dont ignite and you smell a wee bit of gas,,,onthejob
Pilotless ignition means that a hot surface ignitor lights the oven burner. It does take a little bit of time to light the burner. Maybe 30 seconds. If you want to make sure it lights take the bottom panel out from the oven and observe the hot surface glow and the burners light. No real danger as the gas valve will only open after the hot surface ignitor has satisfied the gas valve. Let me know how it goes. ken
please check and make sure the knobs are not stuck in pull on each of them the oven does not spark it has a glow bar but there are switches behind the knobs that maybe sticking check that first
