My sony no longer receives a signal from my PC. It worked before, but I can no longer get it to receive a signal. The cable and PC have not changed. I've reset my TV's options and restarted the laptop...none of this has helped. What might the problem be?

First reset the tv to factory defauld setting by press and hlod [^] on remote, press [power] on TV, second thing you can do is software update. Go to http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=KDL42V4100&LOC=3#div_pos_30 . If it doesn’t work. Replace the Main board.

SONY AV RECEIVER STR DG710 No Sound

Make certain you are using the right connection cables first off. Then check the settings on both the TV and Sony. For example it has to send bitstream signals to get Dolby on your receiver . PC signals will not work.

Run both audio and video to the tv, then use the tv optical audio out to go back to the receiver. The problem is, when you split the signal, the tv takes longer to decode the hdmi signal =, thus delaying it from the original audio signal.

Sony STR-DG510 hook up with BDP-S560 no sound

The Sony manual for this receiver is not wrong, it is just a little misleading.
It does in fact use HDMI but ONLY for the HIGH DEFINITION video portion of the signal, as output from the receiver to your television. High Definition Multimedia interface carries both audio and video, however, your receiver is not decoding the high definition AUDIO portion of it and passing it through the HDMI, nor is it passing any form of multichannel audio through HDMI. So you can see why the receiver is no longer available for sale from the Sony website. The HDMI connection on your receiver is redundant unless you are not using a multichannel audio format, in which case you would be using either the TV speakers or connect an additional audio cable from the TV's "audio out" back into the receiver for external speakers.
All that should be done is use the HDMI cable from your blu-ray player connected directly to your TV. That will give you your picture, and possibly a better one since the receiver will no longer be in the signal path.
Then connect either a coaxial or optical cable from the blu ray player to the receiver for your audio. You will then be able to have Dolby Digital and DTS surround formats.
Your service person was wrong.

Sony str-dg820. having a problem getting video on tv

Hook up Composite / Component Monitor Out wire from receiver to TV video input because receiver will not change analog input into HDMI
You need to connect receiver and TV through analog video terminals as above.
Actually you are expecting that receiver will convert DVD player and Xbox analog video input into digital HDMI signal for TV and This is incorrect.

Sony projection tv with dual tuners; only one tuner appears to be working now.

To verify that the tuner is the problem, move the cable from the second to the first. If you don't get a signal, the tuner is bad. The main tuner is part number 859843000 and is available for $47.38 from tritronicsinc.com

SONY DAV - S880 compact AV system

Sony.com may have a pdf downloadable manual available on line.
The standard way to connect Audio from a Receiver to a TV is to send a signal from the Tape outputs (RED & WHITE) on receiver via RCA cable to a Aux input (RED & WHITE) on the TV. Likewise, sending a Video signal from a receiver to a TV, is via a Co-Axial RCA cable , using a Video Out (YELLOW) on the receiver to a Aux Video Input (YELLOW) on the TV. An S-Video cable can also be used (in leu of yellow RCA cable) if available on both Receiver & TV.

Sony a/v reciever not sending video to tv.....

I don´t know if I´ve understood, but the best way to "pass" video signals to TV through receivers is using a stereo VCR, where you plug in any antenna. Then you connect VCR´s audio and video channels to the receiver. Turning on all equipment, select video1 source. You will hear sound through the system and watch video signal on TV. Hope this may help.
