So you are connecting the laptop to the TV using VGA port of the TV, right? To get sound in the PC input mode, you need to use the PC audio input jack (green jack, mini 3.5mm jack) not the RED and White RCA audio input, they are for Composite Video AV inputs. That is how I have my laptop and TV setup to watch Netflix.

Can I connect wired headphones to the SHAPR LC-32SB23U tv? And if so, where is the connection on the back of the tv?

The Sharp LC-32B23U does not have a headphone (3.5 mm) jack. See the specifications here: https://www.cnet.com/products/sharp-lc-32sb23u/ . It has an optical digital audio output. To connect your headphones, you could use a digital audio to RCA audio converter. See https://www.amazon.com/optical-rca-converter/s?k=optical+to+rca+converter for some converters. Then use RCA audio cable to connect to an RCA (2 F jacks) to 3.5 mm F adapter. (If your headphone has a detachable cable, you could use an audio adapter cable with 2 RCA M plugs on one end and the 3.5 mm M plug on the other.

I hope this helps.

Location of headphone jack on samsung samsung ln40b500p3fxza

This TV does not have a headphone jack. It only has a optical digital audio output, Toslink. To connect this to most headphones, you'll need a digital to analog audio converter. You'll need to provide the cables (optical digital audio, RCA (M/M) to 3.5 mm (F) adapter). For some headphones, you can use just RCA audio cables or RCA (M/M) to 3.5 mm (M) audio cable. Here is one converter: https://www.amazon.com/Digital-Optical-Analog-audio-converter/dp/B004C4WPXA .

The documentation for the LN40B500P3FXZA is available here: https://www.samsung.com/ca/support/model/LN40B500P3FXZA/ . See page 4 of the User Guide for the back panel connections. The current link to this guide is http://org.downloadcenter.samsung.com/downloadfile/ContentsFile.aspx?CDSite=UNI_CA&CttFileID=2430065&CDCttType=UM&ModelType=N&ModelName=LN40B500P3F&VPath=UM/201104/20110426143440007/BN68-01883Q-00L03-110426.pdf&OriginYN=N .

Want to hook up a philips sound bar to my t.v. what cable do I need and where do I plug in at

Which model TV and which model sound bar do you have? Some Sansui TVs have a coaxial digital audio port and a 3.5 mm headphone port; this is true for the SLED2480. Some of the smallest Sansui TVs may only have a headphone out option or no audio output. These jacks will be on the back or the side depending on the model. For some Sansui models, these will be easiest to see when you put the TV on its face (on a clean soft surface) and look next to the base of the TV.

The Philips CSS2123B/F7 has a digital coaxial port, a digital optical port and RCA analog inputs on the back of the unit. It also has a 3.5 mm input on the right side for connection with auxiliary devices (like a headphone out). Other models may have different ports.

Thus the cables you need will depend on the specifics of your devices; similarly the locations of the ports will depend on the models. If your TV only has a headphone out and the soundbar has analog audio inputs, you will probably want a 3.5 mm to RCA audio adapter. There are several options depending on whether you want to use an 3.5 mm audio cable or an RCA audio between the TV and the soundbar. (Pick a cable and then get the adapter to plug into either the TV (M 3.5 mm to RCA FF) or the soundbar (2 RCA MM to 3.5 mm F).) There are 3.5 mm M to RCA MM cables as well.

If your TV has an digital audio outputs, get the correct cable (optical or coaxial) and connect that to the port on the sound bar and TV.

Please add a comment with the model of your TV and soundbar for specific information. I hope this helps.

Where can I purchase the Audio Video Connection for my dvd player I want to hook it up to my TV but can't find the correct cable Thank you Sandy

For the COBY TF-DVD7500, the video is carried on a single RCA plug cable. You can make due with a composite video cable (with three RCA plugs on each end) or get an RCA cable. The audio output can either be digital audio (which uses a special coax cable) or a headphone connector (analog audio).I believe the headphone jack is a 3.5 mm connector. If you use a composite video cable to your TV, you can connect the red and white plugs to an adapter (3.5 mm M to 2 RCA F). Then the TV speakers will get the audio track; otherwise you can use the DVD player speakers or the digital audio out.

I hope this helps.

Model ELCHW402 40" LCD

The TV has two audio out options: a digital audio out (coaxial) and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. Both of these are just above the antenna in connector. The headphone jack is the top one.

For a sound system that uses RCA stereo plugs, get a 3.5 mm (M) to 2 red/white RCA F adapter at the headphone jack and use an RCA audio cable from the adapter to the sound system. Alternatively, you can use a 3.5 mm audio patch cable from the headphone jack and the 3.5 mm (F) to 2 RCA (M) adapter at the sound system. The TV speakers will probably be turned off automatically with this connection.

If your sound system has digital audio, get the digital audio cable. You will need to enter the menus to make this audio output active. See the Audio menu > SPDIF Type (PCM, Dolby or Auto).

I hope this helps.

Where on the tv do u plug in headphones?I hve a sanyo tv DP32640

Get an adapter: the one you need depends on the headphone type. If you have the standard IPod/computer headphones with a 3.5 mm plug, get a 3.5 mm F to RCA stereo (2 male plugs). Then plug the RCA plugs into the audio out of the TV and the headphones into the 3.5 mm end.

The TV's Audio out is between the Composite Video IN (Video 1) and the PC input.

If you want to have a longer cable, get the 3.5 mm F to RCA stereo (2 Female ends) adapter. Then connect a stereo audio cable to the TV audio out and the RCA side of the adapter and the headphones to the 3.5 mm port.

Make sure that the TV outputs to the external speakers (some tvs do this automatically when external speakers are plugged in). Menu > Sound

I hope this helps.

Plug for pc speakers wire

To use the speakers on the TV when you connect to a PC, get a 3.5 mm M/M audio cable (it may be called a patch cable or audio aux cable) and connect it to the PC audio in port to the left of the composite A/V ports (that's the group with 3 RCA jacks yellow (video)/red(R audio)/white (L audio)). The other end goes into the computer's line out (speaker out) port - which is generally colored green. Otherwise your regular computer speakers will play the audio.

If you want the TV's audio to output to external speakers, use the headphone jack (sometimes labels Phones, again a 3.5 mm plug) or a set of speakers/receiver that takes an optical audio connection. The optical audio jack is between the two coax connectors. Please note using the headphone jack will force the internal speakers off.

I hope this helps.

Just bought the brookstone wireless tv headphones. I have a Westinghouse 40 inch lcd tv. I plugged in the rca red/white into the audio out and I don't get any sound into the headphones?

I had the same problem with Brookstone wireless headset the only solution I found was plug in the red and white connectors to your cable box it works perfectly that way. Just make sure the red cable connector from the transmitter is connected to right red input connector on the box. I have a Comcast cable box. Now I need a solution for them on my PS3?

How can use a set of headphone on my TV? I believe that I can use a RCA connector of some-sort. Can anyone help me?

The exact details of your headphones will matter. If you have a set that gives stereo and connects to your computer, you need a 3.5 mm mini plug (stereo) to RCA (two 1/3" prongs IIRC) adapter. If the headset was for some other devices, the adapter will be a 2.5 mm plug to RCA. (If you have mono headphones, get the mono version of the adapter.) The RCA audio plugs are usually red and white or black for audio.

I hope this helps.

I have a samsung NC10. I have connected to my TV via the PC cable. I can see the screen but here no sounds. I have connected the red/yellow/white audio cable to the tv. It has a jack plug on the other end....

The cable you are using is a rca audio/video cable. The colors translate to:
  • red=audio,right
  • white=audio,left
  • yellow=composite video
Your laptop headphone input uses a ⅛′ (3.5 mm) mono and stereo (TRS).

You need a Stereo 3.5mm mini phone plug male to 2 RCA female connectors.
