You need a 3.5mm to3.5mm cable connector .He goes from the computer to the monitor you can buy it on radio shack
Jcdiekfuss, First verify that you have audio signal coming out of the light-green audio-out "jack on the PC!! Use an external pair of "wall-wart" powered speakers to verify. Notify me of result. You can also try to "feed" low-level audio from a radio or CD player "ear-bud" jack to the LCD monitor's audio input jack for testing purposes. Good luck. 12fixlouie
jcdiekfuss, Yes, you need a compatable audio patch cable to get voice and music signal from the pc to the HP VS17 monitor's audio amplifier so it can then send it to the speakers so you can hear it. If you do not have a "sound card" or an integrated "audio processor" equipped main motherboard installed, then you don't have audio capability. Look for a "mint-green" colored jack on rear of your pc. My old Gateway has a light "pink" audio input, microphone jack just above the light mint green audio input jack. If a Radio Shack or computer store is nearby, stop in and look at some PC's that have these "audio jacks" on them so you know what to look for on your machine. You can also do web search for HP Customer Care and then search at the site for your model HP Pavilion a520n desktop pc and find out that your motherboard was made by ASUS Model A7N8X-LA and lookat the photos to see all the connections to the motherboard. Hope this was of some help to you. 12fixlouie
