I have a Sears 1/2 HP garage foor opener. It is only three years old. When I push the remote opener or the inside opener the door raises about two inches and stops. If I hit the opener again it closes and then opens two inches and stops. Nothing is blocking the sensors as far as I can see. What would cause this?
Check the door springs and also remove the cover from the motor unit and check the drive gear. The door spring could be broken or the drive gear may be stripped.
The sensors only work when the door is closing.
