My marine speed transducer needs to be replaced. I have a Beneteua 351 which is 16 years old. I have cleaned the transducer several times and then reinstalled. It will work for a couple of minutes and then stop. In replacing the transducer is it as simple as pulling it out from the hull, snipping the two wires and reconnecting the two wires to the new transducer and reinstalling?

Yes. You need to make sure you get the same transducer though. With you system being that old, you may have a transducer that is old where there is not a direct replacement. You need to make sure you get the correct transducer. You may need to get a "flapper" kit to update your housing to the new style.

Unit will show correct depth for a short time and then reset to 2.2 feet and stay at that reading for long periods of time!

I assume that when it resets to 2.2 feet that the readout is flashing. If so the it sounds like you have a bad transducer as the problem has been getting progressively worse.
The transducer needs to be replaced. Sounds like the sending crystal is fractured.

What is causing the depth to keep blinking when my boat is on plane.sometimes the screen just shows a horizontal line where the depth should read. garmin541s brand new

First, make sure that the connection is good, clean, and tight on both ends of your transducer. Sometimes turbulance or temperature stratifications in the subsurface water will cause this. Also, check the specifications of your transducer. Some do not perform well while moving at high speed. One test, when on plane, when the problem occurs, slow the boat and see what happens to the readout. Repeat this several times. This should help narrow down what is causing the problem.

What is the replacement transducer for uniden QT206

Just about any marine chandler should be able to source one of these for you. They're made by airmar who pretty much make all marine ducers now. Here is the link to just one place you can order it.

When at speed i tend to lose sight of the bottom it becomes very broken. Also the depth reading takes a while to record depth.

What you are experiencing sounds like air bubbles crossing the face of the transducer. If you have a transom mount transducer check the face of the transducer. Make sure that it is clean. Also make sure the front of the transducer is a tiny bit lower than the back. The digital readout on the screen will only happen when you have a strong signal of the bottom.

Transducer loses bottom at any type of speed greater than trolling. Worked fine last year with all the same setttings. All I can think of is , maybe the battery is low. The boat just came out of storage...

Check the transducer for any damage on the front part. Also make sure there isn't any damage on the bottom of the boat that is causing air bubbles to cross the face of the transducer. If it works at slow speeds there is definitely something causing air bubbles.

The self-closing valve on our 13 year old ST60 speed transducer now only closes sometimes when the blank or impellor sensor is removed. We suspect that a spring is missing. We need a raymarine spare part...

Spring not available must buy housing and replace or if it is sleeved, buy housing and slide in new sleeve there are two different types, one has a removable sleeve with flapper

My depth finder loses its depth reading at about

You need to set the transducer lower. When at speed, the hull of the ship raises up out of the water and hence your transducer is probably not deep enough at these times to give a proper reading.
