Pfaff Model 1222d. The drive belt seizes up and groans to a hault. I have done all of the trouble shooting on p.65 of instruction book. The machine has not been used for years but has been well stored in its cabinet. No rust or other issues. I've had it since 1970 and it looks brand new. Just need to straight stich. I can turn the drive belt manually after repeated back and forth motions but at first the metal bars were stuck firmly to the hard rubber/plastic (?) wheel. Can you help?

Try lowering the presser foot lever one click down (needle down presser foot up position). You maybe in the bobbin winding mode that is why it is locked up for your safety, you don't want to puncture any body part while winding the bobbin. It locks up the needle and the balance wheel while it allows the winder to spin.
