Acer Aspire 3680 Complete Restore

I want to do a complete restore on my Aspire 3680. I have followed the directions that Vista gives me about how to do it, but it wants me to pick a prompt in start up mode that does not exist. There is no restore disk. Thoughts?

Http://www.acerpanam.com/us Go to that website and click on "eRecovery Disc Purchase". Acer does not come with recovery discs. It only comes with a recovery partition from which you can make recovery discs. If they discs were not made you'll find the provided website useful. If you're trying to recover from your recovery partition, then continuously hit the F11 key at startup. This F11 option is not always displayed. If this doesn't work then your hard drive is corrupt or damaged and you will need the discs (and potentially a new hard drive).

How do i take it back to factory condition?

Greetings Ddy Dn,

  1. Press + or select Acer eRecovery Management from the
Empowering Technology toolbar to start Acer eRecovery Management.
  2. Switch to the restore and recovery page by selecting the Restore button.
  3. Select the backup point you would like to restore from. You can also
choose to recover the system from a factory default image, recover from a
previously created CD/DVD or reinstall applications and drivers.
  4. Follow the instructions on screen to complete the process.
For more info, here's the official manual: http://support.acer.com/acerpanam/manuals/acer/0000/userguides/AS3680_5570_5580_5570Z_ENG_1123.pdf

No restore cd

I have an Acer 3680 series laptop and it originally came with Windows Vista Basic (now I have Windows 7 32 bit on it).

But, anyway, on Windows XP, Vista, and 7 the restore is done by going to the help menus and typing in 'restore' or 'recover' whichever route you want to go.

Data is stored on the computer's hard drive that can take the computer all the way back to the day it was new, or to a freshly installed state of the operating system.

I hope this helps.

I have an ACER Aspire 3680 and have made the recovery disks, however, they will not perform the complete system restore...Am I doing something wrong? When I get to the screen that gives me the option to do...

Acer's recovery needs some work. If it is still under warranty, they should give you new disks for free. I've done it for a customer before.

If its not under warranty, then you might try just using the restore partition, unfortuantly this only works if you can get into windows beucase you have to activate it from the eRecovery software. Like I said, they need to do some work.

I'm trying to restore the computer to factory standards

Open the Acer eRecovery Management Software, and make sure you burn all the disks you need to restore the system.
Then, using those discs, you should be able to reinstall the system.

Restoring laptop

Insert the recovery CD and restart the computer. Hold down the "D" key on your keyboard while your computer boots up. This tells the computer to boot form your CD-ROM drive instead of you hard drive. Follow the on-screen directions for a complete system recovery.
