There are several possible causes for "memory card locked", "memory card error", or "no memory card". Some include trying to use of a 4GB SDHC card with an older camera made before SDHC format came out. Others include problems with the switch on the side of the card, or the switch internal to the camera. The problem may also arise from simple formatting problems if the card has never been formatted in the camera (note that this will also erase the card). Troubleshooting tips for this problem may be found at this link.

Ram not working

Step 1:
A memory slot is a slot in your motherboard where you place your RAM (Random Access Memory) card. In layman's terms, the RAM is the "temporary memory" that the computer utilizes whenever it is turned on. If the computer cannot detect a RAM card installed in one of your memory slots, you have to troubleshoot the problem immediately.
Ensure that the problem is with the RAM slot and not the memory card. Turn off the computer, unplug all devices connected into the ports of your computer and open the computer casing. Refer to the manual of the computer to know the specific steps to follow in opening the computer casing. Remove the memory card from the RAM slot. To do this, unlock the card using both hands. Pull the card away from the slot to remove. Inspect the RAM card for any apparent physical damages. Wipe the card with a clean cloth to remove dust. Also wipe the memory slot in your motherboard. Place the RAM card back into the memory slot. Press the card into the slot until it clicks into place. Close the computer casing, connect the cables back into their respective slots and turn on the computer. Turn on the computer and see if the memory is detected. If the computer does not boot up, the RAM card is not detected by the computer. Assuming that you have two memory cards installed in the computer and the computer boots up, check if the second memory card is detected by the computer. Click "Start," right-click "Computer" and then "Properties." Under "System," check the amount of "Installed Memory (RAM)." If the RAM is not detected, the RAM slot or the RAM card itself may be malfunctioning. Place the RAM card into another memory slot in your motherboard and see if the card is detected. If it is detected, the other memory slot is malfunctioning. Do not install any RAM card into it to avoid further damage. If it is not detected, the RAM card may be malfunctioning. Insert another RAM card into the slot. If the RAM card is detected, the slot is malfunctioning.

I got it in a will and I would like to use it however it doesnt have memory card does it have to have the memory card in it to work ????

Most digital cameras don't have internal memory reserved for other than system use. When you turn it on, does it says "no memory" or "no memory card" or "no memory card detected" or "please insert memory card"? Anything like that? That would most probably mean that you need to have a memory card for using it. If it doesn't, check the settings, see if there's an option to select what memory to use? If there's no such option, then you definitely need a memory card. I hope that helped a bit!

Hi, Move the internal pictures to your card and then switch it to record to the card...
Here is a tip that may help you with your problem.... I found out that with my cameraI needed to transfer the pictures within the camera to the card and them fromthe card to the computer...
The process for your camera may not be exactly the same, but should be similar.

I have a V1003. It is saying memory card is protected (reset switch on memory card).

move the switch on the memory card, then put it back into the camera, if its still locked, take the card out and look did the switch move to the other posititon? if it did, then something is touching the lever as you put it in the camera.
if it did not move but the card is still locked. try formatting the card with the format option in your camera, if that doesn't help then the sensor in the camera that detects if the lever is on the locked position or not is jammed and thinks the card is locked, to fix the problem the sensor needs to be fixed, you need to take the entire camera apart to get to it.

My new 4g memory card will not let me use it, say memory error

Hi there!
Since this is a new memory card, the first thing that you can do is to format the memory card through the camera menu.
If that doesn't work, try another memory card. If that card doesn't show the error then your new memory card is the problem.
Hope this helps.

The memory card reader wont detect the card and when i put it in the camera it would ask me to insert a memory card...i got alot of pictures i have to recover...HELP

Please try your card into a card reader in a PC or laptop. If this detects in the laptop then your camera has the card contacts out of alignment. sometimes the contacts can shift off from the edge or can be broken. If this is opened the tips of contacts can be pulled up to contact with the sd card when pushed in so as to detect. If there is no detection in the PC then your card has a fault and it will good to contact Sandisk for support to recover your memory files.
