5 in 1 Remote by Radio Shack

I purchased the 5 in 1 unit and programed it according to the limited instructions that were included with the unit. I have a Toshiba TV which worked fine with the former Toshiba remote. The Radio Shack remote some how has created a problem that creates the "black box effect" on some programs. It happens on major telecast such as the NCAA basketball tourney, PGA golf, an other direct telecasting. The instructions does not indicate how to remove that black box. I went to Radio Shack and the rep said it was in the TV not the remote, but this never happened until I changed the remote. Any suggestions.
