It seems that your charger is not in running condition any-more. So, you have only one option just purchase new one Dewalt Charger. And I would like to suggest you a place where from you can get this very easily. Dewalt Tools

I am in Canada and I cannot get a Black & Decker 36V charger which is LCS36. The B & D 36V battery looks identical to the Dewalt 36V battery but I cannot be positive. Do you know if the B & D LBXR36...

What I do know is that some NiCd 12V Black decker batteries that look similar to the dewalt ones they are charged by the dewalt charger.
But there are 12V Nicd black and decker batteries that they can not be charged due to an extra plastic edge that does not allow to be charged by the dewalt charger.
Now if you do have the dewalt lithium 36V charger and if the black and decker battery is a 36V lithium one and can not be charged due to a plastic edge then I would recommend to risk to destroy the plastic edge in order the black and decker battery to be charged.

Dewalt lithium battery won't charge

Your problem states you have a Makita tool and your question is about a Dewalt lithium battery. In either case if the battery won't take a charge or if the charger is showing the battery is defective the only fix is to replace the battery. Some causes for defective batteries or batteries that won't take a charge are bad cells in the battery, bad or shorted IC board in hte battery, broken or burnt connections between the many cells or between the cells and IC board or even bad or old cells that will no longer charge up. The time and effort needed to find out what the problem is then finding another battery to scavenge parts from (individual battery parts are not available) is never worth the cost of just buying another battery and going back to work with the tool(s).

It tells you to that you should charge the battery

The problem is your batteries are either over heating or worn out. You might also have a problem with the charger but you'll need Dewalt tech support to determine if it's good or bad.
The first thing to do is clean the contacts. Use a white plastic pencil eraser and clean all the contacts you can reach. If there are any contact you can reach with the eraser use a Q-tip that is just damp (not wet) with rubbing alcohol to clean them.
Discharge your batteries completely then put them in the freezer for 8-24 hours. Take the batteries out of the freezer and let the set 24-48 hours after that put them on the charger, they'll either charge or you need new batteries (more likely) or a charger.

Dear All, I need recommendation to change some elements in DW9116 to run by 220-230 V AC. I appreciate for support. Alik

Here is a link to a number of 220v chargers that will work for you. You can, of course, use the 110v charger with a down converter.

My Dewalt 7.2-18v charger model #dw9116 is giving me a "problem powerline" indicator light. What does this mean?

It means there is too high or too low a voltage coming into the charger. Check your chord.

I had the exact same problem. After using the necessary security bit to crack mine open, I found that the large capacitor inside had come loose and needed to be re-soldered.

That fixed my charger.
