Hello my name is Heath it will be my pleasure to assist you. The problem with the unit is it could have a plugged up coil or there is not enough moisture in the air to collect a noticeable amount of water. It may be collecting water but it could be boiling off before its collected in the drip pan.

Runs but no longer collects water

In the price range, most of the comparable united are the same under the skin. I like whirlpool since replacement parts are widely available.
before you condemn the unit, check three airflow and the temperatures of the suction and discharge tubes a few inches from the compressor. If the discharge is hot and the suction is cold, the circuit is probably still whole.

Spitting water out side?

ooh my this might seem a terrible thing but is actually quite comon to happen on a unit that has a clogged drain tube , you see theres a system (pan) inside that collects water from the condenser coils , and if this pan for what ever reason cant drain the pan backs up and finnaly the water level reaches the fan and yup ^$^ Hits the fan !!!! and out it goes with the air !! this pan is seperate from the bucket that collects the water so your not likely to see it from outside , to resolve it this units needs to be completly cleaned in/out

Our Challenge 4151319 Dehumidifier has ceased to collect water. The fan operates perfectly. Can I get it serviced in Devon?

Hi,

First, make sure the humidistat isn't set too high by adjusting it to the lowest humidity setting and running it again.

Next, test the dehumidifier by placing it in a closed bathroom with a hot shower running. If you don't see water collecting in the unit after several minutes, turn the unit off and clean all dehumidifier filters and coils. If, after adjusting the settings and cleaning the unit, you still don't see water collecting, you may have a refrigeration issue.

This situation will have to be addressed by a qualified technician.

Good luck

Fan runs but does not collect water

It sounds as though the compressor is not running or the machine is low or out of refrigerant.

How does the unit collect water?

Your fan motor is going out. You can remove the screws from the back cover and gently pry it off. After that, look into the unit and you will see the screws holding the front cover. Take the bucket out and remove the screws at the top. All the screws around the entire metal shroud need to come out. Then with the covers off you can see the fan mount screws. You have to move the evaporator very gently out of the way to get to these screws. Remove the fan motor replace it and re assemble the unit.

Not working

Hate to tell you, but it may be a goner. Many units have a rectangular air filter that may be clogged, but I would still expect to see some moisture removal. Without exact model I'll have to be general,.... remove cover (front or back, depends on model) to see cooling coils. If the compressor is running, these coils should be wet or may have a light frost on them for a time. Not = refrigerant leak. (not economical to repair) If you see one small area of ice,... it's also a goner. If the compressor does not run you could have a bad compressor, a bad defrost control, or a bad control / humidistat. Other than the filter or possibly a fan motor, these unit are rarely economical to repair.

Does not collect water

ok Carmo

first remove the back of the unit and turn it on. it sounds like the fan motor may not be working.there by making the dehum get hot. make sure your filter and coils are cleaned. you may need a new motor. if so buy a new motor and fan blade.be careful with the 5/16th nut holding the fan blade. the blade might look good but you have to check the hole where it rides on the motor shaft. if you into the hole it should look like the letter "D" because the motor shat is shaped that way.---good luck

Help

Check to make sure the fan works. I have one with a broken internal fan and it will appear to work but will not collect water. Do not be fooled by the noise from the compressor. If your fan is broken, the compressor will run until it overheats. There should be airflow that you can feel behind the unit which should be cool and not hot.
