Washer won't drain completely

If you rotate the tub by hand, you can hear water sloshing like it doesn't drain all the water after the last cycle. We use the washer at least once a day so it doesn't have time to mildew but shouldn't it drain all the water out?

    Thanks,

Makes sense to me that they would use water to counter balance the tub. Is this water sealed or does it move thru the pump each time to keep it fresh so it won't spoil and mildew?

  • USCPAPA Apr 18, 2008

Yes, I have the same problem but worse. No only there is water in the tumbler (normal) but it leaves the loads soaking wet. It started doing this about 2 weeks ago. What is causing this to happen? I've owned this washer/dryer combo for almost 10 years and this is the first major problem. Please help.

Water sond when tub is spun by hand is normal. there will always be wa terinside machine betwen tubs, maytag even uses a waterfilled tub ring for counter balance, totlly normal to hear. as far as mildew smells, use www.affresh.com

water is sealed within the outer ring assy, as far as keeping fresh, thats where the affresh tabs come in, oh yea also make certain that you use a detergent specifically design for fornt loading washers, an HE detergent.

HI: My washer will not drain all the water out at the end of the wash can you help me out

Hello there and thank you for choosing fixya

Spin cycle If the washer doesn't reach its proper spin speed, the clothes may be too wet at the end of a cycle. Check to be sure the load is properly balanced and run a spin cycle again. If the clothes are still wet, you may have a worn or loose belt (Maytag®), a worn clutch (GE®/Hotpoint®), or a worn motor pulley or tub bearing. Replace the applicable component. Alternatively, there could be clothes caught between the inner and outer tubs. Read the "It spins but won't pump" section of the "It won't drain" section. Also, there could be other things that cause friction on the drive train. Seek the assistance of a qualified appliance repair technician. Siphoning If the water that pumps from the machine goes right back into the machine after the spin cycle, it may be because your washer is siphoning the water from a laundry tub with a slow drain, back into the washer. Try to improve the draining of the laundry tub. (Is there something stuck in the drain?) Also, be sure the drain hose doesn't reach more than about 4 inches into the laundry tub. If it does, cut off the excess. Water-inlet valve Water-inlet valves eventually fail. One problem that may develop with a water-inlet valve is that it can no longer completely shut off when the electricity is turned off to it. Then, the valve may leak and drip water into the clothes tub--you may notice that your washer has water in it when you haven't used it for a few days. To fix this, replace the valve.

Is some water in the tub of a top loading washer normal?

It is normal to have residual water in the drain lines and pump following a wash cycle. This is the low point of the drain cycle and gravity will ALWAYS cause some water to be there. As long as the water is not visible in the spin basket, you have nothing to worry about.

Some model washers also have a balance ring around the perimeter on top of the wash tub that is filled with fluid. This acts as a stabilizer to help keep the washer balanced during the spin cycle. If you have any questions, please post back and let me know. I hope this is helpful to you.

Hello, On Neptune washer serial # 34098916EF, Washer tub fills with about 2 inches of water within hours after doing a wash. When I spin the tub by hand, I hear water sloshing inside. Machine drains fine....

You have a bad water fill valve. Until you get it fixed shut water valves off at the wall so that you don't have a flood if the fill valve on the machine fails completely. Let me know if there is anything else I can Help you with.

WHEN WASH IS COMPLETE, WHEN YOU SPIN THE TUB BY HAND YOU CAN HEAR WATER SLASHING.

The pump cannot completely drain all the water out of washers. There will be some water left in the bottom of the tub that you can't see but here slosh around if you move the basket. If your clothes are not wet, this is probably normal.

Why won't the washer drain? Pump appears to be

if this issue is because you hear water in the machine when the tub spins......
thats normal, its called the balance ring
centrifical force, pushes the water in the lid, outward helping to use the sling weight, as a counter balance
its 100 percent normal to hear sloshing when turning the tub by hand

Water runs into tub but does not fill?

be sure the drain hose is not lower than the wash tub this will caust the water to run out, 2nd be sure the drain hose is not pushed to far into the house stand pipe and the there is rome for air to go inbetween the drain hose and stand pipe eather of these will cause the machine to siphon mostly on rince cycle or on the 2nd and third loads you do. last your house drain could be starting to back up fill the washer with water and listen to it drain if you hear a gurggling sound in the house pipe you may need a plumber to cleanthis out for you.

Amana Washmachine (not all water removed during spin) ALW780QAW

you may have blockage in the drain pipe several feet from washer. if you can run spin cycle with hose in different location ex. tub, sink or outdoors. if this works run long snake down washer drain pipe to clean gypsum residual.

Water left in barrel (not the tumbler)

If you can't see any water and just hear it, this is completely normal. This is a front load washer and has a special cover of the inner tub basket. This cover contains some water that has been sealed in at the factory to keep the load balanced while it is spinning.
