International calls are barred. I'm traveling in a different country with my Blackberry 8520, normally a fabulous phone. However as soon as I landed at he airport I was unable to make calls in the country I'm visiting. It says ''call barring on''. I can not change this option as it doesn't not like my password...''status error''. Need help fixing this problem. Hate being in a foreign country and unable to make simple calls.

To disable call barring
1. On the Home screen, click the Phone icon. The Phone screen appears.
2. Click the trackwheel to view the menu, and then click Options. The Phone
Options screen appears.
3. Click Call Barring. If your SIM card is provisioned for call barring, the Call
Barring screen appears.
4. Select the call barring option that you want to disable and click the trackwheel
to view the menu. Click Disable.
5. Click the trackwheel to view the menu, and then click Save.
You return to the Phone Options screen and your call barring option is disabled.

SOURCE: my blackberry curve has a 1x but full bars and

the 1x refers to your data signal strength. It must say 1XEV to have full coverage. Full coverage allows you to email, txt, etc. It might be the area you are in but if travel around and no changes, check you connections. "Manage Connections", the icon is an antenna, make sure your network check box is checked. if so, scroll down to "mobile network options" and make sure your "data services are on". If it is on, power down the phone, and remove the battery for minimum 2 minutes, then put battery back in and turn on. if you data is still only 1x contact your service provider.

Hi,

International call barring service key is 331. Try and check for barring status by entering *#331#
It shall respond something like "Call barring / international outgoing / all calls on" (or off)
If status is "on" you may want to deactivate barring by #331*code#
where code is your key to supplementary service activation deactivation.

If it is still unsuccessful ask yourself: did anyone activate international call barring on your phone?
Barring services can be activated by subscriber as well as the telco. In the latter case you will not be able to deactivate the barring.

When i moved from Zambia to Senegal,my phone lost the network, what can i do to restore the network.
Of course you will lost the network, you need to unlock your blackberry network then you can use senegal sim card for your phone. Remember my friend different country also has different network configuration so you can't just switch your sim card. To unlock your blackberry you must have blackberry curve 8520 unlock code, you can get blackberry unlock code from your network provider or third party sites. Both of them will take some charge but usually network provider has higher cost rather than buy from third party sites.

Whenever my friend tries to make a call on his BB8520 it displays "call failed". How can this be fixed? He got the phone from his service provider
Can the BB receive calls ok? If not, is the sim activated and the mobile network switched to ON on the phone (GPRS/EDGE) should be displayed next to some signal bars at the top right of the screen. If they are both ok, try a battery pull, if that doesnt work try the phone in a different area to see if they get any success. Normally this messge does point to a network issue
