The fail safe circuit has been engaged to prevent fire and further damage to some of the components inside the set. There is possibly an open circuit or short on the power board or even on the sustain boards of the display and colkor engine. NOT a DIY operation, without ability to read a cicuit diagrams have the right tools and be able to assess voltage outputs.

Macbook a1181 works for a couple days and then does not want to start again for another couple days. please advise

Your best bet is to reset the System Management Controller;
(I'm not sure if your model has a removable battery or not, so I'm providing both methods)

Resetting the SMC on Mac portables with a battery you can remove
Note: Learn about removing the battery on MacBook and MacBook Pro.

  1. Shut down the computer.
  2. Disconnect the MagSafe power adapter from the computer, if it's connected.
  3. Remove the battery.
  4. Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
  5. Release the power button.
  6. Reconnect the battery and MagSafe power adapter.
  7. Press the power button to turn on the computer.

Resetting the SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own
Note: Portable computers that have a battery you should not remove on your own include MacBook Pro (Early 2009) and later, all models of MacBook Air, and MacBook (Late 2009).

  1. Shut down the computer.
  2. Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
  3. On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
  4. Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
  5. Press the power button to turn on the computer.
    Note
: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.

...and then reset the Parameter RAM:

  1. Shut down the computer.
  2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
  3. Turn on the computer.
  4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
  5. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
  6. Release the keys.

Model 27AF45 Toshiba TV shuts down as soon as it turns on with remote or with the manual on button. was working fine, and one day it just shut off. no lightning or power outage...just died one day.

There is power supply fault inside the TV. it could be any fault up to the E H T circuit. That is the reason the S M P S is shutting down the moment the TV is switched ON.

Do not attempt to repeat. Rectify the fault.

It has gone crazy

See if one of the button switches is collapsed, check the "shoulder buttons" also. If any switch is collapsed, it will sense that button as being held down all the time, and may act strangely, including ignoring commands from other inputs or controls. Its possible a bad touch screen could do something similar as well.
Check that all the switches still click and return as they should. If you disassemble unit, you can eliminate the touch screen temporarily by just unplugging the very small ribbon cable to the touch portion of the screen, then see if it still acts up.

TV is on, but not displaying picture.

This unit is known for bad relay contacts. It may be that tapping in-on-or around the relay at Sr41 might restore the pic temporarily. If so, replace it - p/n#23146558.. If not, you may have some poor solder joints that will take a little bit more investigating and possibly shop time if you're not up to the task.

TV is not powering up and red light keeps flashing

I had the same red blinking led problem on my Toshiba Theaterview tv. I resolved by:
- Unplugging the tv.
- Press several times (3 or 4 times) the tv Power button.
- Plug the tv back in and press the Power button once to turn the tv on....tv worked!!!

I've had the problem before and tried unplugging the tv for a couple of days and that had also worked, but I this recent solution seems to be faster.
Good luck!
