Windows has dropped its support to provide Windows Media Player's built-in DVD codec for Windows 10 and above. So users may not be able to play DVD via Windows Media Player. You can try Leawo Blu-ray Player, which is a free 4K and region-free player.

Hi,

Click on the link below and download vlc media player and open the DVD in that. vlc media player will play anything regardless of whether you have a DVD decoder or not.

Playing avi files on dvd

It all depends on what media player you are trying to playback the media with. For example, if you're using Windows Media Player, you won't be able to play them back without installing additional codecs. You can download them directly from here for Windows Media Player and other media players: http://www.free-codecs.com/Codec_Packs.htm

Hope this helps. If so, please rate. Thanks.

Ibm t23 laptop dvd rom not reading some dvds

Sounds like you need a DVD decoding software, ie... winvid, interdvd, and powerdvd. Windows media player will play some DVD's, but many DVD's, especially newer ones, need an additional decoder in order to work. You will be able to find the software at filehippo.com, download.com, or IBM's support site. Keep in mind that burning software, ie... nero, roxio, and dvd shrink, have decoders in order to burn the DVD, so they will work as a decoder in conjunction with your media player.

Dvd decoder

I believ you can find a decoder at filehippo.com Keep in mind that DVD burning software will work even if you don't have a burner, just delet the icon from the desk top for burning, your media play will use the decoder in it. The burning software has a decoder in order to read then burn.

Hi,
are you trying to play DVDs from a different region ?
PC DVD Drives, are region set to the computer, if you have a region 1 dvd drive, trying to play region 2 dvds et,c. it won,t let you. theres a couple of ways around this. go to Afterdawn ( on the web ) and download a region free dvd device.
Solution 2. try to obtain any updates or re-install windows media player. suggest player version 9 or above.

Mike @ compurepair.

p.s finally is to check that your drive, indeed supports DVD Or certain types of dvd media. i.e DVD+ Or DVD- some only support One type.
