My MX700 printer tries to send faxes instead of printing page(s).

Blocked print head nozzles
Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent blocked print head nozzles. You may have blocked print head nozzles.
Try the printer maintenance to clear the printer nozzles.
After several deep cleaning attempts and there is no improvements in the print then a new print head is required. Also try - Removing the print head, run it under hot water for 2 mins, then let soak for 10 min. then used a can of compressed air to dry thoroughly. It may fix the blocked nozzles.
A new print head maybe expensive and it maybe more cost effective to purchase a new printer.

This is the PC fax facility, unless until you entered the fax number job wont go any ware,,.PC fax facility is very good feature that with out document you can type and send the faxes through this facility as well as your files..Better to rename the drivers as "fax" to avoid confusion...

First, insure it will print without a connection to the PC: install/re-install cartridges, then see if it will (automatically or manually) print an alignment page. If not, try another set of inks.

If it will print offline, then plug USB cable to PC, and see if it is installed to the PC. If not, you must install it. If it is recognized and says it is ready, then go to the Printers & Faxes tab on your START menu, find your printer and RIGHT-CLICK on it. Open the Properties tab and see the driver, then tell it to print a Test Page . If it does not, you mmay have the wrong driver installed.. If that is the case, you can go to www.canonusa.com, and click on downloads then put in your MX700 model to find the correct driver. Download the driver and tell it to run and follow the prompts to install. When finished, try another test page as stated above.

It is not designed to do so but try this... Go into your FAX menu and select "Display Device Settings." From there, choose RX settings and then DRPD. DRPD is designed to allow you fax to only answer calls with a distintive ring pattern. By setting it to a pattern that doesn't exist, it should allow the calls to be ignored. Try setting it to something like short short long. Once thats done, go into "User Settings" and "RX Level" and set the volume to zero so you don't hear it ring. If that doesn't work about all you can do is keep the phone line unplugged until you need to send a fax.

there exist two printer drivers, one for printer and another for fax... may be your machine have the print to fax driver as default hence it takes you to fax page... u can manually select (or make default..) the printer driver to print document on paper... if it does not exist try reinstalling it.............

after emailing canon support, the answer is this: 1) the fax paper size must be "letter" - 8.5-11". 2) reset all settings through settings menu. the fax will then print reports (and also every report that was not printed before).

Try removing the ink and printhead, turn printer off and then on. If printer asks you for the printhead, then ink, then you may have just gotten a working printer again. I hope this works.

More then likely you have the fax set up to USE A DIALING PREFIX.

Therefore it is automatically doing this, regardless of what you input.

Follow the proceedure below ( which comes directly from the users manual for your printer type ) to change this. Delete the " USE A DIALING PREFIX " information.

once that is done, it will no longer automatically add the prefix for you. :)
