Check if the belt is loose. With the engine off, try to pull the mower deck belt around by hand. If you can pull it easily, and the blades don't turn, then replace the belt. If it's hard to pull, and you can see the blades try to turn as you pull it, then your problem probably isn't the belt, but the PTO clutch or mower engage switch.

Craftsman YTS 4500 Lawn Tractor. Having installed a new belt the PTO does not engage at all to turn the blades.

My la 125 mowers belt broke i replaced it with an original john belt but it was so tight the blades stayed engaged all the time what am i doing wrong

adjust the belt tensioner , follow the instruction manual .

Mountfield Emperor 21 blade spins freely when engaged to cut. The blade stops when disengaged but wont cut when engaged as there appears to be no resistance when cutting and blades spins too slowly.

I recently replaced a worn blade belt on my poulan pro 42"deck riding mower. The mower is about 6 years old and has run great the whole time until the belt broke. The problem is that now the blades...

its possible you have it routed wrong or the belt may be a size to small. it wont hurt it to go like that but it is ******* the starter and can possibly wear out the new belt to fast and it is not the safest

Craftsman lt 2000 42

Hi, first check the spring that pulls on the idler pulley for lost tension then run the blades for a 10 to 15 minutes at half to full throttle. This is necessary to bed the new belt into the old pulleys. Regards Phil.

check for power and ground at the connector that feeds the clutch this will tell you if its a switch or the clutch itself
