Hi, I have a 19 inch lcd tv, model number LCD 19880HDF. I bought it about 10 months ago and last night the picture went. Tried turning it off/on, picture lasted for about 5 seconds and then when, its like someone just turned off the lights in the tv because you can still see the dark shadows on the tv screen and full sound but no picture.\r\nAny idea what may be wrong? my email address is [email protected] Thanks

The on and off conditions is repairable and is not the tube,you should have it check out for loose conections and try not to use it or it will go bad for good and the repair will become expensive,Check power supply,horizontal driver transformer and crt board,If you are not familiar with tv service be safe and call for help.

The set may have shorted the horizontal out put transistor since it kept coming on sometimes. This could be cause by the driver transformer arcing causing a "spike" in voltage going to you horizoltal out put transistor. Stargazer

• adjust brightness setting when playing tv.
• adjust screen control located on flyback transformer.

It was the light engine, went bad, we called Sony, wrote a letter and they paid for it, $975. they paid all but $135(half the labor). The TV was out of warranty, 20 months old. We told them they warranty the picture tubes in old fashioned TV's for 2 years, the light engine was a comparable part, big component of the TV, so they covered it, our picture is now beautiful

Hi, this is a very common failure, you need to replace 2 IC chips on your power supply board, marked on the top of the IC`s is this number: MCZ3001D you can purchase them here if you are very proficient at soldering & un-soldering, and the board has to come out of the tv to do this, you might want to call a tv man for this one, but it will fix your set, happy holidays, BMW Rider
