The camera will not turn on after being dropped. When I switch it from off to on, the green power LED flashes briefly. The lens does not move or attempt to extend. The LCD backlight does not illuminate. The LCD appears to be slightly damaged: there is some slight non-uniformity visible when I shine a strong light on it. Otherwise the camera shows no sign of damage. Is it possible that the damaged LCD is preventing the camera from turning on? Is there a hard reset procedure I should try? I've taken the battery out, charged it for a few hours, and put it back in. I opened the case (back and front halves), and I'm not sure where the clock battery is. With the case open, there is no visible damage. Thanks much for any advice!

Sounds like a dead battery OR an OLD battery that will not take a charge. I cannot answer that with information you gave me. Many of the Power Up Functions Briefly use lots of power. While it is Off, hook it to power adapter and make sure GREEN LED blinks When it Stops Blinking then Disconnect it and Try to turn it on. if it works once or twice the battery is bad and needs replacement. If it never works you may have issue with camera. What goes with old batteries is capacity. It dies quickly.

Hi if your camera is on auto and the lens does not move there is a problem with the lens block.The lens block is may be dirty (sand) inside or your unit has been drop.Sometimes you can fix the lens block sometimes not than you have to replace it with a new one.

Have you tried to take photos & then use the USB cable to download those trial photos? or take test photos and then swap your SD card into another SD card camera?
The rear screen has all its electrics passing through a flat ribbon connector, as this is the only link to the main body of the camera. This ribbon folds over itself at 45 degrees within the case when the camera is assembled.
This fold is OK until the camera is compressed accidently, when that fold in the ribbon may become a crease, and then one or more of the connections within the ribbon may fail at the crease, and while camera works otherwise, you have then lost function of the rear screen.
Take some test photos & if they download OK, I'd suspect this ribbon connector is the problem. Camera Good, Screen not working.
I currently have this problem with my R1v & have yet to see if a replacement ribbon connector is available from a Repair facility, so my help may only give you insight, without end-solution.

Hi there its happens when the lens not ready for work. Some how its not able to stable his focus method. That's why its come out & go back. There is a chances of lens guide pin disturbed or damaged & thats why green light blinking continues. Its mean he inform you there is a system error. So please visit the service center for repair that. Thanks.

get a butter knife or any thin object like that and use it to push out the lens and turning it on at the same time  you will hear a clicking noise which is normal  once completely out, use your hand with a gentle but firm presure move it form left to right 
and then hopefully it should work after that

It's time for a new one, uneconomical to repair.

I have a Kodak 1275. Green light would go on the off and lens was stuck open. Now for solution that worked for me. Get a can of compressed air, like what you use for computer keyboards. Blow the compressed air all around your stuck open lens, not to fast and switch directions of where you blow air around stuck opened lens. Make sure batteries are fresh and fully charged. Tap your camera against the palm of your hand twice, not to hard or you may damage instead of jarring lens lose. Next lay your camera on a table lens facing up, push power button on so camera will try to auto focus and lens should reseat itself and lens should move freely. It doesn`t have to look dirty or dusty, little tiny particles can cause the lens to get stuck and shut off fast because it is a safety feature. If this does not work try plugging your camera into computer so the lcd screen does not try to go on , thus giving even more power to get your lens moving . Do not try to force it closed by pushing or twisting with your hand or you may cause damage that will cost as much as the camera to fix.

Ive looked all over the internet for a solution to this very common problem. This is the only one that worked for me. When you turn on the camera the green led light comes on. Hold the camera in your right hand while you turn it on and as the lense comes out, bang the camera (lens facing down)against your left palm repeatedly until you notice the led light briefly turn red then green again. You need to do this every time you turn it on.I think shaking it loosens the jarred lens. This was the only solution I could find and although I was tentative about doing more damage this way, I tried it and it works.
