I have a DOMETIC RM183 3-WAY fridge in my trailer. It works on 120V A/C but not on propane. I have cleaned out all of the gas lines and can get the flame lit it just doesn't seem to produce enough heat for the refrigeration cycle to work. How do I clean the chimney/flue assembly and where can i get a new regulator/thermostat assembly

SOURCE: I have a Boler Trailer

I had this same problem and here is the possible solution.

The older fridges used amonia and water for a refrigerant. If it sits for a time the two seperate. Remove your fridge and turn it upside down and back again... let it sit for a bit in both positions. Occasionally turn it on.. either with gas or electric if so equipped. The process of heating and mixing the amonia and water will sometimes do the trick. When you notice its starting to get cold let it run a while.

SOURCE: Dometic RM2193 Works on 120V, but not on gaz.

These fridges require that the control switches be in the correct position for the power source you want to use. If you try to operate the fridge on gas and have the electric 120V-AC switch on, all you'll get is the gas pilot light to stay lit. Also, when running on gas, the electric has to be off.

Here's a link to the manual for your unit. Print a copy and save an electronic one for future use, in case you lose your printout.

Hope having the manual helps you to get the fridge working on all the power sources you need! Best regards!

SOURCE: no cooling on 12v or gas

Hello,Depending on the age of the unit, it could have a compressor going bad on it, as the compressor gets hot the valves may not be seating correctly or may be burning out.
You may have also lost some refrigerant, but I am going to lean more to a bad compressor.
Thanks

I replace an old Dometic fridge with a new RM2620 last year. when I run propane the trailer smells of after burn propane. i have checked for leaks and can't find any. I think it is a venting problem?

Yes, I would check your venting. Shut it down and open the access to the back of the fridge. The venting should be apparent and clean of course. Propane has a high water vapor content and contains Carbon Monoxide and should not be burned unvented in small spaces. Good Luck

CAN YOU MANUALLY LIGHT A DOMETIC RM2652 PROPANE FRIDGE IN A 2006 TRAILER

It will not light manually as the ignition probe is electronically controlled. If it doesn't stay lit normally then it will more then likely not stay lit when trying to light manually.

Why is it difficult to light our dometic refrigerator, when using it on propane?

Hi: In my travel trailer I find it is easier to light my Dometic if I bleed the lines by starting my stove top. It uses a lot more gas to get lit and floods the lines with propane. Your fridge uses such a small amount of gas it takes a long time to bleed the line to it. Don't focus on just the oven.... run any propane appliance on the way to it first. I hope this helps, Jeff
