How do you know your notebook is connected to your wifi AP? Did you try pinging the gateway? If not, open your command window & type "ping 192.168.0.1" (put in your own gateway address.) If you get replies, then ping something outside of your network: "ping 4.2.2.2" (this is a verizon dns server). If you get replies, then "ping yahoo.com". If it does not fail at any of the above steps, you don't have a connectivity problem. If you fail any of the above, then report back & we'll continue the troubleshooting.

If it flashes orange it is trying to connect and detect the internet, if you are connected to your wireless router but no internet check the security keys on the router and the laptop if they are the same, I guess you get the error limited connectivity, and if possible check for programs that could cause your wireless to not get the internet but get connected to the router, check for network magic uninstall the program from your system restart the computer try connecting again.

worst case that can happen is you can try uninstalling the wireless drivers and reinstalling it if the wireless devices gets an error during installation of the driver then you will need to replace your wireless card in your laptop, orange flashing in router meaning it does not detect internet from the modem ^_^

Wireless not working on acer aspire 5551a

Connect to internet using ethernet cable and update wifi driver from makers site, if this does not work then buy a usb wifi adapter off ebay or from a local store, put it into usb port and install the driver from the disc supplied with the adapter and off you go (far cheaper than replacing the wifi card)

No enternet access

Check the wireless router and high-speed modem.

If the two are not powered on, or if the Ethernet cable connected the two is not completely inserted into both connection ports, you are unable to access the Internet on the Acer Aspire One laptop computer.

Activate the wireless Internet connection on the laptop computer.

Right-click the wireless icon on the desktop, then choose "Enable" from the pop-up menu.

Without activating the wireless receiver on the Acer Aspire One, the laptop is unable to detect any wireless network.

Select the appropriate network you wish to connect to.

Your computer may be attempting to connect to a different Internet connection, preventing you from access the network you desire.

Right-click the wireless icon, select "Search for available wireless networks," then choose the network you want to access.

Restart the computer.

The system may have booted and failed to detect the wireless receiver.

Restarting the computer corrects this issue.

hope this helps

I cannot enable my wireless adapter.

go to start, control panel, network and internet, then double click your network adaptor (your wifi router) click properties, write down your I.P address given to you on screen. then open internet explorer, and type that I.P address into the search bar and press enter. you should now have access to the main router settings. it could be your routers wifi setting is turned off. just go through the menu and look for it, the menu depends on the router so i cant say which menu to go to, but its normally under advanced tab. dont change anything else unless your sure you know what your doing!!

My acer 5920 wont pick up any wireless networks . The wireless is turned on but wont recognise anything. Works fine using cable.

Have you Set up the Wireless ?
In Windows, Go Start - Control Panel - Net work Connections - Right click Wireless Conection - then to the top center tab Wireless Networks - near the bottom of this, Click ADD
    - in the top slot (SSID) type in the SSID of your Wireless network e.g. BTHome then in..
Network Authentication - choose Open, Shared or WPA or WPA2-PSK (Whichever your Router supports - further right is BETTER)
then in the slot underneath, if Shared or Open chosen choose WEP
If you Originally chose WPA or WPA2-PSK now choose TKIP or AES again the rightmost one is better.
Now in the last two slots - Type in your Network Key.(same as the Routers) Hint, A Notepad document with the key in it, allows Copy and Paste into the authentication slots - (especially if it is 26 digits long...)
Click OK to go back to Wireless Networks Click on Advanced and make sure Access Point is selected - click Close and then OK to close the Properties window
Go back to Network Connections -
double click on your Wireless Icon and it should say Enabling... In the left most panel go to View available wireless networks and you should find e.g. BTHome is top of the pile.. and it shows it is Connecting or Aquiring...
once connected start your browser and confirm you are able to connect to the Internet...

    Wifi connectin problem

is your wireless router set to broadcast itself?
you should be able to double-click the small, single computer icon in the lower right corner and have at least one wireless network (yours) to connect to. once you click it to connect, it may require a key sequence, if it is set up for it (passcode). Also, try clicking "Start", right-click "Computer", choose "Properties", "hardware" tab, and "Device Manager". Check to see if your wireless network card has a driver problem (yellow exclamation point". Can you access the network with your netbook connected to the router via a cable? If you can, and have internet access, go to the Acer Support site and download the latest wireless card drivers and install them. see if this helps. Good luck!
