There is a panel beneath the laptop with 3 screws. Take the panel off and you can gain access to the heatsink and fan

Replaced heatsink and cpu temperature sensor is incorrectly high

When it crashes, does it happen at the same spot? Does it get into the OS or are you looking at a hardware monitor in the BIOS to get your temp. Was the heatsink replaced because it was doing the same thing before? I'm not sure overheating is the cause since 158F is only 70C and that's not hot enough to cause a shutdown. T-Max on the almost all CPUs is 100C.

Sony vaio pg-6h1m over heating

Have you cleaned the fan, vents, and heatsink with a Can of Compressed Air? You may have to open the Laptop to clean thoroughly using Compressed Air and a light brush, use ESD protection as well. Improve air flow from the bottom of the laptop through to the side vents. A Laptop Cooler is a option. Hopefully you haven't done any damage to vital components due to overheating. Verify the fan is in working order and free of dust, obstructions.

Red flickering lines across the screen of my laptop

Sounds like you Graphics adapter is on it's way out. Does it do the same if you connect to a External Monitor? Is the Laptop overheating due to dust in the fan, vents, heatsink or poor air flow?

I recently got a new battery for my HP DV7-1245dx and it still powers off randomly. I trust it isn't a battery issue for it seems to only shut off when in actual use. Please help me with any...

Could be due to the system overheating; does it run hot?
Try using it on a hard flat surface to see if it runs better, allowing better airflow around the machine and check the fan is running, you should be able to hear it.
If it's overheating, it will shut down to prevent heat damage. Overheating can be very destructive to pc components. You'll need to open the case to get to the heatsink, fan and vents. Remove the fan and heatsink and clean. Clean all the vents with vac or compressed air. Apply a little thermal paste to the processor and replace the heatsink and fan.

HP dv6 overheats, fan runs but little air comes out. Warranty just ran out, of course. On start up sometimes error message is "operating system can not be found"

Overheating is undoubtedly caused by obstruction to air flow in between the fan and the vent. The heat absorbed by the heatsink is driven out by the fan and when some obstruction(usually lumps of dust comes in between, this overheating problem appears. You will have to open it up and clean the path of the airflow to resolve this problem. As for the OS not found option, it is most likely to be due to a HDD crash. See if BIOS detects it. If it does it is not a malfunction and is definitely a crash. I am afraid you will have to re-install windows to resolve this problem.

I have a sony vaio vgn nr430e laptop the display goes off as soon as the cpu fan starts rotating

That could be a problem with the heatsink/fan assembly on the processor. It sounds like the processor is starting up, getting warm as they do, the fan starts up but does not cool efficiently enough and forces a shut down due to heat.
Clean out the fan assembly and replace the old heatsink compound on the processor heat sink.
Hope that helps.

Running super hot then crashed and I cannot get it to reboot

in all your air vents on your laptop, take a can of air and blow into all of them, this will ensure there is no dust or dirt buildup that is blocking the vents which could cause overheating.

Next off if your laptop is still overhearting then see if the fan runs at all, keep in mind it won't run all of the time but as long as it turns on from time to time then you know for sure that your cpu fan is operable.

If the fan doesn't turn on ever then the fan is probably bad or the power connector needs to be reconnected to the mothterboard.

If the fan is running like it should and its still way overheating then the motherboard is bad cause that means the IC's on the motherboard are not regulating the voltage properly.
