Check if the screw of the phone is not too tight, because the button might press by itself if it is too tight.
If the problem is not solved, what I do in a situation like this is to loose the phone and use cotton wool or soft brush to clean it with a little mentholated spirit, leave it in the sun to dry, after drying, allow it to cool a bit and couple it back.
You should not clean the screen with spirit, you should clean only the board and the keypad also. Just a little spirit and don't let it be too much. You can dry in any other heat apart from sun and don't allow it over heat.
I wish you the best.
SOURCE: I need help with handset
not sure if you have already got a solution for this problem as it was also listed in the Premium section until a few hours ago.
You must ensure each handset is charged for atleast 20 hours.
Best to de-register each handset first. Follow the menu on base or handset to select de-register.
Then follow the registration process for each handset using the menu function.
Hope it works this time.
SOURCE: I need to deregister missing handset #1
To de-register HANDSET #1:
1) Grab any working handset which is registered to your base (so HANDSET #2 or #3 in your case)
2) Press and hold the "END" + "#" key for 5+ seconds (wait for it to beep)
3) Choose the "Deregister HS" menu option
4) Pick HANDSET #1 as the handset ot de-register (since that's the "phantom" registered handset)
5) Once de-registered, you can de-register handsets #2 and #3 directly from each handset's "normal" menu interface (i.e. press "Menu", choose "Deregistration")
6) Thereafter, if you re-register your handset, they should start at HANDSET #1, then #2, and so on.
