Question about Sony BRAVIA KDL-40V3000 Television

Connection help with receiver and lcd TV

I posted this problem initially in the wrong section. I hope this is the correct one. Anyway, here is the problem:I have a Denon avr1508 receiver and I would like to connect to my Sony KDL40v3000. I've read the instructions with the TV and the rceiver. The Sony set-up manual says to connect a HDMI cable from the TV's HDMI IN port to the receiver's HDMI OUT port. It also shows a cable going from DIGITAL OUT (OPTICAL)on the TV to the receiver's DIGITAL AUDIO (OPTICAL.
My Denon receiver set-up shows an HDMI cable going from the Video Out on the TV to the HDMI MONITOR OUT on the receiver and thats all, no other cable connection.
All this to say, I cannot get sound out of the surround sound speakers. If I just use the receiver I get sound, when I use the TV I get sound out of the TV speakers.

i have a classic hometheater but can't connect tv it has only video. the only time youcan use something that is plugged into tv if is on channel video1 or video 2 i have an emerson lcd tv

Depend on what you wants to do. if you wan to get sound from your tv on receiver connect out from tv to in on receiver if U have optical out from tv send this to optical input on your receiver and set up your receiver to impute to digital HDMI carrie sound and video...

(My Denon receiver set-up shows an HDMI cable going from the Video Out on the TV to the HDMI MONITOR OUT on the receiver)
OUT TO OUT don't make sense ...could be out to impute you may have HDMI going from receiver to TV and other HDMI imputs on receiver to use receiver as distribution unit say you have satellite HDMI, DVD HDMI, Computers HDMI IMPUTE all of this connected to your Receiver and the HDMI monitor out from your receiver connected to TV so now you may select any of this sources to wach In your TV and lessen trough receiver speakers

No audio output

If you do a factory initialization, nothing wrong could happen, except with its tuning settings. All the setting in the memory will be cleared, and the set will work as if it has been bought new. You should have to re-tune it and do all personalized settings again. That's all. In my view, for this case, doing a factory initialization will be better. If you do not get audio even after factory initialization, you should have to check its mother board's audio processor section circuit for the fault. Hi,

Initially, pls try using a CD lens cleaner similar to those used in computer CD ROMs. it is normally readily available from most computer shoppes. The idea is to clean the laser pickup/eye/lens. Should cleaning be not corrective, it may be necessary to open the unit for a look & see or manual cleaning the insides.

I think you press the wrong button that change the settings of your TV to restore it original settings kindly go to menu and find factory settings then press enter..

To enter initial setup you can refer setup simbol with gear pict. On top menu of setup (gear) press enter again. Follow the instructions. Or you can read my post here. That the same way but for deferent problem. Good luck.

Assuming that the VGA to RCA cable/adapter is functioning correctly, then what might be required are:

initially lower the screen resolution of the Sony Vaio laptop to the lowest possible;
press F? key to cycle on the display choices, LCD, LCD+TV and TV only. The F? key would be the one with the small monitor icon.

Hi,

Based on your initial post "smack it a bit on the side it would fix" indicates loose connection or more probably a cold solder. Now that it won't come on, then it maybe that the intermittent loose connection/cold solder has deteriorated to the point that there is no longer any connection.

Again basing on the "smack it a bit on the side it would fix", perhaps initial course of action would be to visually check the inside of the TV with particular attention to the connectors and the solder (underneath the PCB) to check for loose or cold solder. Corrective action would require re-seating and or re-soldering.

Hi,

Initially it would appear that you have either a LCD screen problem or your CCF Lamps goes out. Of the two I would suspect more the CCF Lamp which could be the lamp themselves, the inverter that powers the lamps or the logic circuitry that deactivates the lamp.

Additionally, this would be heat related or even possibly a loose connection somewhere in amongst the areas above mentioned.

Considering that the unit is new and presumably under warranty, perhaps your best bet would be to call it in for service by their authorized service personnel. Any diagnostic/corrective action would require that the back of the unit be opened for a look & see which of course would void your warranty.

Cnannel scan detects no channels

Make sure the cable connection from the dish to the tv is
connected to the antenna/cable input and not the digital
input. Turn on the satellite receiver then auto program the
set with the receiver still on. If this fails to lock in channel
3 your suspicion regarding a faulty tuner could be correct.
A good way to check the tuner operation would be to hook
up another product such as a VCR with the rear switch set
for channel 3 and see if you can receive a picture from this
device. If it works the tuner is OK.
You can bypass the tuner by connecting an S-Video cable
and (or) a set of A/V (yellow,red & white) cables from the
output of the satellite receiver to the video 1 input on the tv.
You'll then have to switch the tv source mode to video 1.

Hi,

Assuming that you have hooked it correctly using the correct VGA cable,there is power to the LCD TV and the laptop is running and can be seen on its own LCD display, then there could be two possible reasons:

1. you need to press Fn + F? key (once or a couple of times. Fn would be whatever is needed for your laptop to activate its external video output). To be able to determine what the F? key is, you need to post back your laptop brand and model; or

2. Perhaps what might be causing no display in the TV is that the video signal it is receiving is beyond its capability. To correct this, pls:
2.1. lower screen resolution of your laptop's properties.
2.2. it may also be of help if you likewise lower the screen refresh rate.
Both of the above may be adjusted through the appropriate settings in your Display Properties.
