I just bought a 15" Magnvox LCD 15MF237 a few days ago. I got it set up fine, but now it won't turn on with the remote or the power button on the set. It seems to be stuck in standby; the red LED is on. When I hit the power button, the red light just stays on. I have occasionally had the red light turn off, the LED go blank, and then I can get it on. However, that's after several attempts and often having to unplug the power. So far, the remote hasn't been able to turn on the set, though the other remote functions work. Any suggestions? This appears to be a good set so I'd like to keep it and hoping this is just a glitch that's easy to fix.
Just one idea.. some set you may program to stay on in case you use cable box and when you turn on the box tv turn on same time but may be defective tv there is relay, transistor and the micro that may be bad so check your settings again ... Good luck

I bought one also from ALDI for my son's Xbox 360, it is only 3 weeks in use and I have the same problem. The red led is on, indicating that it is in standby mode and recieving power but I can't turn it on either by pressing the power on button on the TV it's self or the on button on the remote. This started happening a few days ago and it's totally random. I found that if you unplug the TV from the power point or alternatively switch off the power point for a minute, than power it on again it will "WORK AGAIN" for a while. Like I said it is random, eventually it will return to the not being able to be switched on state at which time you will have to repeat the process. So thus, this is not really a solution. I am about to return the TV for a refund, and it's a shame because otherwise it's not too bad. and looks OK too.
Hi I was in a live session with you earlier but there was no response for about 15 minutes so I thought your were disconnected. Please click on the re-connect button or you can respond here. When you say it does not turn on, does the LED change color but there is no picture or is it just stuck in standby mode? Please provide this info so that we can continue with the diagnosis.
Have similar TV. If it is set to the PC source, it goes into standby when there is no signal, like a regular monitor. Even though the monitor is in standby, you can still press the Source button to change to, say, HD input, and will use the familiar on/off action when pressing Power on the remote.
Get a set of multi media speakers and connect them through the microphone plug in the back. I have mine set up this way and the sound is awesome. I purchased the Creative T-10. Can be found on ebay for around $15 + shipping.
you need to go to your setting and change your automatic shutoff timer. this will cause your system to turn off every 15 minutes no matter what you are doing...
Could your remote possibly need new batteries? Sometimes remotes act erratic when in need of them. Check that out and see if that is the reason for your problem. Luck!
