Why does yahoo sign me off? My husband is normally signed into his yahoo account on our laptop, so I sign out of his account and into mine. I can only stay signed in for about 2-3 minutes, then I get a message that yahoo is signing me off. Screen returns to my husband's yahoo account. Driving me crazy!!

The last couple I helped with this problem did not have 2 separate User accounts set up on their computer and so they were sharing the same browsers (and cookies)
Create 2 User accounts from your Control Panel
Vista > Control Panel Home > User Accounts and Family Safety > Add or remove User Accounts
You can then have your own browsers and desktops
To switch user >Start > Switch User
Make sure you keep your browser clean
Download 'ccleaner' and run it through a couple of times, using the factory settings and the 'Run Cleaner' control until 0 bytes are seen to be cleaned following a scan
Run the 'Registry' from the left hand toolbar but 'Save' any changes after opting to 'repair' errors.Never make changes to your Registry without saving the information.

Hi!

When you are online with Yahoo Messenger and at the same time sign-in with your yahoo mail account, Your connection with Yahoo Messenger will be lost(and it will sign out automatically) when you tried to open your mail chat.

Or if your status is " Available " on the mail chat of your Yahoo Mail account. Once you sign in on this account, you will be signed out in your Yahoo Mesenger account unexpectedly.

So, here is what you need to do.

Sign in with your Yahoo Mail account. On the upper part of the page, beside your name, click sign out of chat. The message should appear "offline"
Now try signing in with your Yahoo Messenger account. Then after signing in, view the content of your yahoo account. It will not disconnect the connection of your YM.

Let me know if that solve your problem. Please come back and give me some ratings.

Thank You for using Fixya!

I am not able to use paypal because my husband and I share the same e mail?

If your husband has already signed up for a PayPal account with that email address you will not be able to sign up a second account. You could either ask him for the PayPal; account password then add your account details to the PayPal account this would mean you would be sharing the PayPal account but be able to choice which account the purchase should go off when you make a purchase. The other option is you could make another email address for yourself and then sign up with that email address. You can get a free email account at www.gmail.com or www.yahoo.com. The last option is you could simply go to PayPal and say you forgot your password this would then ask you your email address put in the email address that you and your husband share and PayPal will send you a confirmation of the change of password to the email. Go to your email address and verify the action from the email they sent you. This will send you to a page where you can change the password to a new one. Affectively this will allow you to take over your husbands account.

I want to set up another yahoo account on my laptop for my partner

That is a relatively simple solution. You will have to remember to sign out of your yahoo account when you are done with it though.
Step 1 - Go to your web browser and visit www.yahoo.com
Step 2 - Look just below the search bar all the way to the right of the screen
Step 3 - If you are signed on then you should see something like this Hi, YOURUSERNAME | What are you do... | Sign Out | Page Options If you see that then sign out.
Step 4 - If you are not signed in you will see something like this Sign In | New here? Sign Up | What are you doing? | Page Options
Step 5 - Once you see that click Sign Up. Fill out the form and click create my account.
To Remember - When you want to use your account click sign in and sign in to use your yahoo account. When you are done remember to click sign out so your partner can sign in to their account without having to sign out of yours.

I sign in to my yahoo mail account on my laptop or my husbands laptop, then try to load my mail and it is not loading. I can access yahoo but not my mail. However if I do the same when using my work...

The question is - is it a problem with both your laptop and your husbands or could it be a problem with your router. Since it is affecting 2 laptops, the chances are that the problem is with your router. Try connecting to a public hotspot (or if work will let you connect there, check first because some companies get touchy about this). If it works elsewhere you have your answer.

If it is your router, check the mtu settings on it.
