If it's a motherboard from an T2984 eMachines then it has only PCI, no PCI-E or AGP.

My packard bell imedia 3064 computer uses an nec ms-6786 board. does this support AGP or PCI Express for graphics card?

Open the case, and inspect the motherboard.

You should see a few PCI slots (usually WHITE-coloured)
that are identical in shape and location.

You might see one more slot that is offset from the location of the PCI slots, but about the same length of slot.
This will either be an AGP slot, or a PCI-Express slot.

Look at the silk-screened labels near the slot;
it should identify the slot as AGP or PCI-Express.

Just received a Palit GeForce 8400 GS Video Card. It will not fit my mother board. Is my pc to old?

This is a PCI-E (PCI-Express) type video card. Older systems have an AGP (Accelerated Graphics Port) slot. You can verify this by looking up your system online and look at the specs to see which type of video slot it has.

Hope this helps,

Want to upgrade the video card but dont know where to start. are the three expansion slots at the bottom of the board used to expand drivers like the video?

Hi there.
Seeing as the graphics on that board are integrated Intel Extreme Graphics and the board does not have PCI Express or AGP slots then you can use one of the 3 PCI expansion slots to install a video card.
The largest PCI graphics card I've seen is a 512MB card and that was not cheap as the latest video slots are PCI Express.
It will however free up essential system memory which is always a good thing.

Thw difference between agp and pci slot

sir, you cant replace it with PCI E from AGP, unless your motherboard can handle either PCIE or AGP. cause there is a motherboard which is compatible with the two interface video cards slots but in your case i dont think so. Better to check your motherboards manual for this.

I could have swore I purchased an apg 4x video card, that's what my V2 premier,( L4S5MG3 mother board)requires. The nivdia Gforce6200 is 8x/4x will this work? Don't want to open, till sure.

8x and 4x means that the video card is an AGP ( not apg) typo i guess.

If it was PCI or PCI Express, it would say so on the box. Look at *********** board, the video card slot will usually have AGP prined next to it. Also, your old video card may have a sticker on it that says its a BLAH BLAH card with SUCH AND SUCH Megabytes of ram and thats its a AGP or PCI, PCI EXPRESS.

Once you know for sure that the card will work, open her up, install and enjoy.

Graphics card problem

Hi rovin,
So you bought an XFX GeForce 256MB video card. You're board has 1 free AGP 8x video slot & 3 PCI (White opened slots).
You mention there is not slot for the new card. (What type of video card did you buy)? PCI-E, AGP or PCI?
The only slot you're board does not have is a PCI-Express.
Look in you're manual on page 1-7 for the location of the AGP video card slot.
94565e6.jpg If you bought the wrong card, exchange it for an AGP 8x or PCI.
The ASUS P5PE-VM uses a integrated Intel® 865G chipset with integrated Intel® Extreme Graphics 2 Technology, which uses you're system memory to function.
If you need a manual you can download it from Asus. Click on the link to open to the P5PE-VM download site.

I hope you find this helpful.
