Crown CE1000 and CE2000 both clipping with low signals

I have a CE1000 and CE2000 about 5 years old. Within a week I had both start clipping and shutting down with fairly low input signals. In the 2 cases the speakers, board and cables were different. In both cases it happened after a few hours of use. While the clipping occurred (and before they shut down) the horns were splattering really bad. Fans seem to work.

For some reason channel one of one of our amps started clipping. i first noticed it with the drum kit but it slowly moved to the vocals as well. i haven't noticed this issue before today. what do i need to adjust to keep it from clipping?

Why doesn't right channel work?

It could be a defective switching element but more likely something has failed in the right channel amplifier chain such as a a component or amplifier stage.

Clip led

That particular channel is blown. These are not the easiest units to repair. Given that this is a commercial amp, I would recommend that this unit be brought to an authorized Crown service center for repair. Expect parts cost in the $50 range plus the labor charge.

Is the fan on a Crown CE1000 to run all the time or only when the amp is under a load and requires cooling? It seems that the fans try to run while on. Almost, as if, the cooling fan is polarized.

The fan speed is dependent on the surrounding temperature.
It may be the temperature is just beneath the fan stalling speed
You can test this by heating up the amp a bit.

The clip light turn on with low music, what the wrong with that?

it could be you are missing 1 side of the supply which would cause the output to be low but the clip light to come on

CROWN CE1000- slips into fault immediately after connection

if ur output power amp is defective u will have that problem - meaning the moment u connect load across it it will go into circuit protection to limit/stop excessive output current. make sure the speaker terminals are connected to +/- output terminals. in bridge mode use only channel 1 and that too with 4 ohms speaker only otherwise amp will clip. considering all connections are okay if it still clips when speaker is connected, u have a faulty power amp section. this the way ur amp is designed

I request a schematic diagram of crown power amp CE2000 2-Channel

The surface mount ic= MC33079D , 14 pin quad low noise op amp is likely at fault, IF the amp is NOT showing a fault light. A LM324D surface mount will
also work in a pinch. It's located on the input pcb attached to the input jacks.

Crown CE1000

Hi Rodman55

If it is surface mount technology(device) resistors you require, they are available most everywhere electronics parts are sold. What values do you need.
You can get them direct world wide from Farnell Electronics But it may be a little work to sort the one you need. Best measure it up and go by dimensions to pin down the specific one you need. Good luck

clipping as indicated by its light? if so then you have overdriven your output. i dont know about Crown their protection but normally such indication you have problem with either your load speakers maybe shorted but still audible or maybe your input stage overdriven also.
