CE 1000 Hi Dan, thanks for your quick response. In this day of age everybodys in a hurry. We started working on audio gear when it was HI FI and you could heat a medium size room with tube gear, (about 45 years ago.) I"m looking for a shortcut to the problem figuring someone might have had this happen before. I don't do this for a living, it's out of nessesity. At a buck a watt this would be an expensive amp to replace, I have the schematics. Blessings, Jim.

Look first at the output transistors. Those are the most likelt defective parts. Due to the odd design of the output section, Crown amps are difficult to repair. If you get lucky, only the outputs are smoked. Also, make sure that you change all of hte transistors for the channel that has a bad one.

Ho do i use the high speed dubbing feature to quickly transfer tapes to my pc using the alesis Dual-Cassette Tape Digital Archiver?

What's your hurry? You copy a tape once but listen to it forever in real-time without fear of it wearing out or degrading. Shouldn't it be as faithful a copy as you can get?

Downloads here:

http://www.alesis.com/tapelinkusb#

A little advice.... if you have any desire to transfer the higher frequencies from your cassettes to your digitized copies, do it at normal speed. The hi-end response of the deck is ok at normal speed but doubling it will double the playback frequencies, making incapable of reproduction with any fidelity.

Frequency Response

(-20dB recording)

Chrome tape 40-15000Hz (±3dB)

Normal tape 40-14000Hz (±3dB)

(0dB recording)

Chrome tape 40-8000Hz (±3dB)

Normal tape 40-8000Hz (±3dB)

Imagine what its response at, say, 30000Hz might be. That's what doubling the playback speed would demand from the head and electronics. It ain't hi-fi anymore.

Easiest place to find them would be manufacturer site of you pc or mother board but some do not have drivers for Windows 7. Depending on age of the pc they might never come out with one.

CASIO SA 1000

Hi.
I haven't worked on an SA-1000, but it will probably be the same as the other Casios.

This should work for the CE-7000 and possibly the SA-1000:

Turn key to program mode.
2 SUBTOTAL
Department number
05 SUBTOTAL
Type new name
00
CASH
SUBTOTAL

To input the new name, just use the keyboard. It will act as a character input keyboard. The layout should be shown in your user manual.

CD player motor no longer working on hi-fi system.System at least 15yrs old.

I'm not sure what you mean by stating that the motor doesn't work. Depending upon the make and model, this unit should be repairable. Can you please post the make and model along with a more detailed description of the problem?

Thanks,
Dan
