Playstation 3 wont read some cds or play downloaded demos.

Hi I'm Kevin. My playstation 3 won't play downloaded games from the playstation store. When I load up the game, the playstation 3 sign comes up then the screen just goes blank. Also When I put in any cd apart from audio cds it doesn't read them. When I put in the audio cds I shows up under music and it downloads the cd information but it deosnt play. You don't hear anything and when u press stop it says the disc is corrupted. I have been able to watch divx movies and play music via my memory stick. Some one please help me. Thanks.

Kevin

I'm also having this problem as well, it has to do with the OS and it is corrupted. It seems like the "Game mode" has been corrupted preventing us from playing games on the hard drive or reading games.

Ps3 wont read games or dvds what should i do?

I HOPE EVERYONE READS THIS AS IT'S LIKELY A (FREE) SOLUTION TO YOUR WOES.

My ps3 recently conked out on me and the local game store (and the internet) told me it was a broken laser.

I told them that I couldn't play video games, not even ps2 games. They still said it was a broken laser.

When I found out it would be 140 bucks to have it replaced and installed I decided to just download some demos.

HERE'S WHERE IT GETS INTERESTING.

I went on the playstation network (psn) and downloaded a game demo, installed it, and played it. When I quit out of the demo, the laser was reading and I could play games!

When I turned off the system and tried again the next day, again it didn't work.

I followed the same process. Went into a downloaded game, this time quit right after the demo loaded, and sure enough, the laser was working again!

Every time I quit a game I have to follow this process, but every time it works, too.

So again:

1. download and install a psn game or game demo
2. put the disc of the game you want to play
3. load the psn game or demo as if you were going to play it
4. quit the demo as soon as you get to the start menu of it
5. go and play the game you wanted to, sucka, cause it works now!!!

I hope this works for you, and if it does, spread the word!

TO FIX PS3'S THAT AREN'T READING DISC'S

Hi FixYa community,

I thought I should pass thing tip along, seeing as how so many people are having trouble.

It is a solution for PS3 fat models (the old ones). If your PS3 has suddenly stopped reading disc's it might not be the laser, it could just be a type of data corruption, but there is a way around it.

Go onto the PlayStation Network and download any game demo. Install the demo. Insert the game you want to play. Now go into the demo game that you downloaded and installed as if you were going to play it. As soon as it loads, quit out of the demo and go back to the main menu of your PS3; the game you wanted to play should now be available. ENJOY!

If this tip doesn't work then sorry, it is your blu-ray laser, however, it has worked for myself and one other that I know of. Hope it works for you too!

Can you play game from the ps3 hard dirve, my friend said you can but l just cant see it

you have to go to the "Playstation Store" and buy a game online OR download a Demo. To buy a game, you need an account and a credit card. To download a Demo, you just need a playstation account, but no credit card.

after you choose your game, you will have the option to download it.
Once you downloaded it, go to "Game" and you will see the game you just downloaded at the bottom.
