The card door sensor is either damaged, failing or gone completely. You can take camera apart, (7 screws I think) take the back off. Sensor is at the back of camera near the battery door. If sensor is missing, you will see 2 spots on the electronics board where it was connected. Carefully melt solder so that those two points are connected. If sensor is still in place it's probably damaged. Carefully remove sensor using small snips or something like that, with out damaging anything around sensor. Then solder 2 points together. Good Luck

Remove the sheets of paper. Open the printer cover and remove the cartridges as well. Close the cover. Then unplug and replug the printer into the power outlet to reset itself. When the printer turns on, reinsert the cartridges when prompted. Load some paper. Check for any error. Try to print.

Olympus FE-46 shows Card-cover open error. Cover is closed.

Hi, I have solved this problem in a Olympus Fe-20 camera. First of all, I will explain the facts of the problem. When closing the cover, inside the camera, there is a switch that get closed. This switch is like a door that opens or closes a electric contact. So when this switch is broken it does not join the contacts, so the camera thnks that the card cover is still open. Taking out some screws of the plastic tap of the touch screen, you will see, the touch screen fixed with a special conector. With a small screw driver take the black part up, and then you will manage to take out te touch screen. Then you have to take out the the board where the touch screen was fixed, taken out some screws , and disconneting the card from a similar conector than the one of the touch screen. So you can take out this board, and see that you have reach the main board of the camera. If you close the card cover, you can see in the main board the switch that opens/closes a contact due to the position of the cover. The switch has 4 welding points. You will have to take it out, by a tin solder. Then put a tin in the left down welding point and fix with a wire to the rigth up welding point. Fix the boarding card with its conector, fix the touch screen with its conector, and try to switch the camera on. If OK, fix everything up. If not, have a look at the contacts welded, that the problem is there. Hope to be helpfull.

I changed the ink in my Lexmark 3400 printer and I keep getting an error message "cover open" and it's not open. I tried everything....unloading the software then reloading the software, shutting it off...

The printer displays a 'Cover open, please close cover' error message, even though the cover is closed.

This can happen if the lever on the cover open sensor is knocked off the switch assembly.

I have a Canon MP600 printer and just changed 4 of the ink tanks. Even though the inner cover is closed I keep getting the error messaage "Inner cover is open. Close the inner cover and press...

  1. Have you tried turning the printer on/off?
  2. Did you replace the cartridges with the power on or off? Most printers require you to replace them with the power on.
  3. Try replacing the new one with the old ones. Do you get the same display?
  4. On the printer, is there an alignment button?

Good luck!

HP Deskjet 5150 - top cover open

I had the same problem, and the cause turned out to be the cover switch not being fully pushed in. On the underside right edge of the top cover, there's a little triangular protrusion that pushes down a black rectangular button (the cover switch) when the cover is closed. The problem occurs because the flimsy top cover is made of plastic and flexes slightly when you close it. This means that sometimes, the right edge of the cover won't seat properly even though it appears as if the cover is closed all the way. When this happens, the triangular protrusion isn't fully pressing the switch down.

To test if this is this is happening, send a print job to the printer and wait for the "top cover is open" error message to appear. Next, open the top cover door and locate the cover switch. It's a little black button in a rectangular hole at the right edge of the doorway near the ink cartridges. Take a pen or a car key and use it to push the cover switch down. You can also use your fingertip to do this if it's skinny enough. If you keep the cover switch pressed down, the power button should start blinking to indicate a print job is coming through. If the print job actually starts printing, then you know the problem was the cover switch.

In my case, all I had to do the fix the problem was close the cover and make sure it was fully seated by firmly pressing down the right edge of the cover until I heard a plasticky "click" noise. After that, the problem went away.

Hope this helps.

Error Message

There is usually a small tongue on the card cover that engages either a switch or some other device to detect if the cover is open.
Check that it is not broken or that the sensor is not damaged etc.
Hope this helps...
