Sounds like the shutter is jammed shut, possible due to sand or oil. Do the Menus work ? If they do that tells you the LCD is OK. Sounds like the cameras need to go to a repairer.

Black screen after formatting camera. I am unable to take photos, instead flash works but no photo shows.

try to do software. check if the display is ok. try to think if the optic of your camera maybe close. if optic close change barrel. if software cannot fix your problem try to hard reset.

Menu button not working

Delete the photos from your computer. Most camera software has the option of copying or moving the pictures to your computer. Moving them will free up the space on your flash card. Sometimes the software will let you delete the photos directly. If this does not work, then take the card out and find a friend with a card reader in their computer. They should be able to help you open the file on the card with the photos (often named DCIM). Then you can delete the photos just like you would delete a file. If you can find a friend with a card reader, take the card to a photo printer and beg a favor.

Shooting mode will not operate

Your camera has a defective CCD imager. Please return the camera to Canon in New Jersey and they will replace the CCD at no charge to you. This is a known issue and should be covered under extended warranty. Good luck my friend. Joe Weibel customelectronics.org
