Won't play dvds.

So far I have had this problem with 2 dvds. My dvd recorder will not play some dvds. I bought legitimate copies of Pursuit of Happyness, and Superbad. Both times it gets to the main disc menu, but when you press play, the timer on the recorder only gets to 00:02 and then it just stops. My guess is that there is some kind of weird copyright protection on those dvds that stops them from playing in a dvd recorder, but who knows...

  • Just got a copy of Superbad from Netflixs and it gets to 2 and won't play.  So I ordered another copy and it does the same thing.  My DVD player is only 2 1/2 years old.  I'm not buying a new one just to see that movie.

The dvd will load and start to play. Gets about half to 3/4 ways thru movie and stops. Then have trouble getting movie to restart. Have cleaned dvd but still will not play. This has been happening more and more.

I have an Aodiovox D1812PK with the same problem, will play a movie for 1/2 hour then just stops...I can reload the movie and sometimes will restart and sometimes won't. The motor sounds like it's giving out.. the unit is only 2 years old and not played that much. Any sugestions on fixing it would be helpful. I have cleaned it and blew dust out.

You can use Leawo DVD Copy which has the ability to decrypt disc restrictions from CSS management and the region code. Then you play the DVD copy on your player.

How do I get my laptop to play dvds again it won t work

When you say play DVDs you mean watch DVD movies? Assuming the drive is not broken you need to use the DVD app. You could use VLC Player which you can download. It's an orange traffic cone icon.

My Sony dvp NS710H isn't playing most standard, well conditioned DVDs.

Hello
Just clean its laser pickup lens, by inserting a lens cleaning disc in to, and play it at least two times. If it doesn't help you, the laser pickup unit should be replaced. The lens cleaning disc can be bought from most of the electronic sparepart selling shops at your town, and won't cost more.

I have the 5083 dvd player, but it only seems to play region 2 dvds. I've tried going through the menus, but it asks for a country code. The codes are two letters A-Z. I'm assuming that there's...

The Country Code is just related to the Subtitles etc and nothing to do with the Region.
Most DVD Players/Recorders are set to Play the Region of DVD from the Country they were purchased from. Only some are Region Free (will play DVDs from any Country) when purchased.

Some DVD Players/Recorders can be changed to Region Free by simply entering a code on the Remotes handset or by following instructions to enter a Service Menu and change it their.

Unfortunately yours can only be changed by updating the Firwmare which is a risky and difficult process even if you know what you're doing. I wouldn't advise anyone to try it without previous experience as you could render your DVD Player/Recorder useless.

How to transfer Panasonic DMR-E80H recorded DVDs to computer

I have to agree with XELIAM regarding finishing the disk, under the DVD "FUNCTIONS" selection from the remote. I also use the SLYSOFT products to transfer my videos to what ever other mode of video I wish to have, whether iPOD (MP4), or DIVX (AVI) or loads of other options. Slysoft makes a GREAT product

Copying to hdd problems

Its not easy to copy a DVD, unless you have the proper software. Even then there is a lot of trial and error that you have to go thru. My suggestion is to findout whats the recording software that are used by both of the recorders and try to get around them by means of a computer.
Or alternatevly do the recording via a computer.

1}DVDR 3480 playback on many Dvds widescreen insteadof 4.3 as set. 2) my Vcr. has 3pin phono. Dvdr scart to Phono .Xt2 says nosignal. Phono tophono (cam socket) no signal .cannot copt tape to DVD. 3)B W...

1) The 4:3 / 16:9 option only optimises playback for that particular type of TV. The 4:3 setting also allows you to set the output between:

  • 4:3 PS - expands the picture vertically and horizontally which gets rid of the black bars, but you also lose the left and right edges of the picture.
  • 4:3 LB - Letterbox format, displays the full picture from the disc, with black bars top and bottom.
The PS option loses the bars on 16:9 widescreen DVDs, but may still leave bars on true cinema widescreen DVDs, which are 21.7:9
This is normal.
  • 16:9 - Optimises the picture for a widescreen TV. Again True cinema widescreen DVDs will still have black bars.
2) All of the external inputs will show "No signal" until there is actually a signal playing into them.
EG to copy VHS to DVD, you will need to select the relevant scart or phono input, and press play before the recorder will register a signal and allow recording.
Some bought VHS videos have copy protection, and may cause problems when copying to DVD.

3) Greenish playback maybe caused by colour setting on TV being too high. Also check Hue or Tint settings on the TV, if it has them.

4) For some reason, in their infinite wisdom, Philips omitted the Video Plus facility from this model.

Samsung DVD-V$357 recorded dvds won't play on other machines

Did you finalize the disk? If not, this should solve your problem. When the disk is finalized you should be able to play it on your computer if you can play other DVDs on it. Some other DVD players can only play specific disks (i.e. DVD-R, DVD+R). This may be another problem.

Won't play dvds.

Hi, All. I found this discussion based on a Google search because I was having the same exact problem with playing Superbad on my Philips DVDR3400 after renting the movie 3 times and confirming the DVD played on my computer, etc. The good news is I was able to fix this problem. Go to Philips support at http://www.support.philips.com/support/html/index_us_en.html From that link, enter the model number of your DVD player into Search. Select your player from the list that comes up, and on the next page select "software & drivers" link at the left. This will take you to the firmware upgrade for your exact model which updates the software that runs your DVD player (also, when trying to find your exact model..such as mine was DVDR3400/37...you can find it on the label on the underside of your DVD player or it is on a sticker on the back side of your user manual). This takes you to both the link for the software download as well as detailed instructions on how to do it which are very clear. That includes how to use your remote to check that the version you will upgrade to is newer than the current version on your DVD. This was quite easy so long as you are comfortable with downloading the software to your PC, unzipping and then ripping to a recordable CD disc. You will then put that dics into your DVD which will read the files and upgrade itself. The whole upgrade process on the DVD itself took about 5 minutes. When it was done rebooting after it upgraded, I powered it off/on. Then I played Superbad, laughed and had a good time ;)
